Hurricane by Band of Heathens
(this is a great song if you haven’t heard it)

I had not, and thanks for the recommendation. They are right up my alley.

Walkin' to New Orleans by Fats Domino has to be on the list.

Also, I'm not a huge fan of country but I did like Alabama in the day. They had a song called Louisiana Moon I believe.

And the Foo Fighters song In the Clear is about the aftermath of Katrina.

Leon Everette's is far better...

no, no it’s not

It is and it ain't close LOL. Both are great but Everette's is the definitive version...and also by far the most commercially successful version. BOH is a fantastic band and their version is good but it is not as good as Everette's...not even close.

I'll have to agree with the other guy on this one. I had never heard either and just listened to both.

I found the Band of Heathens version to be far superior, but that's why there are so many types of music. I added Band of Heathens to my playlist. I would be fine if I never heard the Everette version again.

Excellent list. I'll throw out one more for consideration -- Blue Bayou, written and originally sung by Roy Orbison, but Linda Ronstadt's version is the best.

Interesting list

For Louisiana you almost need a New Orleans list and a non New Orleans list.

Would be interested to see this for every SEC state.

5 for Alabama:

1. My Home’s in Alabama - Alabama
2. Alabama Getaway - Grateful Dead
3. Alabama Pines - Isbell
4. Angel from Montgomery - John Prine
5. Stuck Inside of Mobile… - Dylan
