Heart of the night”. By someone. I can’t remember who. It’s about NOLA

Poco

In the heart of the night
In the cool southern rain
There's a full moon in sight
Shining down on the Pontchartrain

And the river she rises
Just like she used to do
She's so full of surprises
She reminds me of you

In the heart of the night
In the heart of the night
In the heart of the night
Oh, whoa, down in New Orleans

Big Mamou - Hank Williams Jr

House of the Rising Sun is hands down the best song on this list.

We could do a few about Mississippi

1. Miss the Mississippi and You-Jimmie Rodgers
2. Tupelo Honey-Van Morrison
3. Mississippi Girl-Faith Hill
4. Made in Mississippi-Steve Wilkerson
5. Goin Down to Laurel-Steve Forbert
6. Starkville City Jail-Johnny Cash
7. Mississippi Queen-Mountain
8. My Heads in Mississippi-ZZ Top
9. Mississippi Squirrel Revival-Ray Stevens
10. Biloxi-Jimmy Buffet

That is a few that I thought of the top of my head.

It's great but the song writer was from Mississippi and wrote it about their experience of floods in Mississip

I absolutely loved Charlie Pride. He came to Meridian for the Jimmie Rodgers Festival about 30 years ago. The morning of his concert he played in JRF Memorial Golf Tournament. I was hitting balls on the range when he came up beside me and started hitting some golf balls. Had a conversation with him for about 10 minutes just shooting the bull. He was so nice and enjoyed the conversation/fellowship. That night at the Temple Theatre in Meridian was one of the best my wife and I have ever seen. He put on a great show!!!

Sad that he is no longer with us. COVID has robbed us of some great folks prematurely.

We missed some Paul Simon songs:

That Was Your Mother from the Gaceland album.

And Take Me to the Mardi Gras from the There Goes Rhymin’ Simon album
