But Auburn posters here tell us that Cam was better than Joe because Auburn had no talent.

What Cam did was more amazing than what Burrow did because Burrow had a LOT more talent around him than Cam had. But Burrow was probably better than Cam as a collegian. He’s definitely a lot better as a pro.

AU had a perfect talent for the type of talent AU had that year. It still almost was a misuse of talent due to how coaches took a few steps to use the talent. He would have been use differently at some schools and AU was the only school that would have a chance with his ego.

If Cam played at Carolina that year I think we would have won the national title. He was just amazing at the college level.

In college id take him over Burrow

The pro game not so much, but Cam does have some good NFL stats, especially in the rushing department

USC lost 5 games that year while playing a poor SECE. They were an average team.

We lost 3 regular season games and beat the #1 team in the country. We pushed Auburn in the first matchup. If Alshon comes down with that fade in the endzone who know. With a Cam newton on our sideline I dont see why we wouldnt have been better and imo a national title team. Which was my point, and the point of the thread.

The Arkansas game was a really bad one, and is the only one I don't know if we win even with Cam. We just couldnt stop their run game.

Cam was a college cheat code though.

Auburn had a veteran OL and a great backfield.
Defense was really good that year.
Best kicker in the NCAA that year.

Here's a hot take

While Cam probably could have helped a number of competitors win a title in 2010, he wasn't the only key ingredient.

That's right. He was the right man at the right time (Orgeron-ish). Cam caused turmoil at Auburn and I think at many other major programs it's quite possible the family/God and us vs. the world thing wouldn't have been there or wouldn't have worked.

Auburn had the right QB, the perfect compliance plan set in motion from day 1, and the right coach with the right schtick.

Agreed. No matter what happened after 2010, Chizik was the right guy to navigate the team through that crisis.

Could definitely see it with LSU, Arkansas and Bama that year.

Petrino wouldn't have allowed Cam the freedom in his offense to have single handedly carried games the way that Cam did in Malzahn's offense at Auburn

Mallett was a much better fit for Petrino and Arkansad that year

If Les actually let him play QB.

Les would have 100% tried to convert him to TE

Ehh .. Maybe. I know this though. Petrino knows what to do with talent. I'm sure he would have made it work. We were loaded on offense that year which would have only helped Cam imo.

Really? Auburn did it with Cam but State couldn't have done it?

In case you didn't know, State had a lot better defense than Auburn in 2010.

The had a very easy schedule in the SECE. They lost to 4 average teams that year and FSU. Keep trying.
