There must be a lack of teams deserving to host across the country if the sec gets 8, that might be the record. I still don’t think sec gets 8, 5-6 teams is about the average of what sec usually gets.

Wow.
Texas goes from hosting as #16 seed
with DBU and Texas A&M in Regional
and #1 Wake Forest in Super
to
The #2 seed in the Stanford Regional
with 2 scrubs and #5 Stanford in Regional
and #11 Alabama in Super
I don’t think we make Omaha either way, but I think our chances are better with the #2 seed at Stanford.

I have no idea how much impact can be made week to week or in conference tournaments but if AU were to go on a run or win a couple more games at least any chance they move up to a national seed?

The Big 12 has essentially napalmed their chances to have a host this week, as has East Carolina

Seriously doubt after today's impending arse whooping.

Not a bad draw for them.

Is the Auburn-Bama game a big game for hosting? I figure winner will host, but will loser also host?

Y'all really needed to beat Vandy last night. It will be nearly impossible for them to put 5 SEC teams in the top 8. You are already a national seed.

being paired with Indiana St is a good draw. Being paired opposite of Wake in the supers isn't

In terms of the 9-16 hosts, we continue to feel like Auburn and Alabama are helping their jockeying positions with impressive showings so far this week in Hoover, while Kentucky remains in the Top 16 with its superior RPI of 2 and strong across the board metrics. The Big 12 continues to be a mess with all three contenders — West Virginia, Oklahoma State and Texas — dropping into the 20s. The Longhorns might be in the worst spot at 27, while OSU and WVU actually play in an elimination game on Thursday. All three of those teams need wins. We inserted South Carolina and Indiana State. The Gamecocks need to beat A&M this morning to feel confident, while Indiana State is an interesting test case. The committee loves schedule intent, and the Sycamores scheduled the No. 3 non-conference strength of schedule to go with a Top 10 RPI. That sparks this question: If Indiana State can’t host with those two metrics in their favor, when will it ever host? With no other contenders standing out right now, the Sycamores could end up being in a strong position with more Big 12 carnage today.
Some commentary from the article

Auburn is sitting at the 16 rpi currently. I wouldn’t want to play with fire and lose if y’all actually want to host.

That’s what I figured. Must win to secure host.

The SEC is head and shoulders above every other league. WAY better than P12/B12 and a clear step up overall from the ACC as well.
The B12, which is the #3 conference in RPI, had a 3-way tie for conference champ between WVU, OK ST and Texas. The highest RPI team between the 3 of them is WVU at 22, OK ST and Texas are 24 and 27 respectively. All 3 just lost their first game in the B12 tournament. What might be only reason all 3 wont go 0-2 in the B12 tourney is 1 of them is playing the other today

The B12 doesnt deserve any host sites as it stands and it's the #3 conference, shockingly enough.

We are back in the hosting discussion. A week ago kendall told us we were out. We beat UGA 9-0 which is great, but then LSU spanks us. I don't see how that moves us in. Maybe if we win today and one more, but not before then.

I don’t know that it’s so much what SCar has done as it is what the teams around them have failed to do (see Big 12). He did say SCar needs to win this morning to feel better about it.

That is fair. Honestly I was excited about being sent to Coastals regional. I don't think they are all that special
It just is odd to me that we arent even ranked in their poll but we are a host?

I think both have locked up hosting so its really just bragging rights and the chance to move on.
Is there any difference between being the 10 or 11 seed? Probably not.
