Your non conference games will probably be more competitive so just be glad it’s not there instead

Terrible for all men involved the day of, terrible in perpetuity for the groom when every subsequent anniversary falls mid-season.

You have an out. Go to the game. Anybody down South knows you don't mess with football Saturdays. My daughter got married the last Saturday in October - but she knew Bama wasn't playing.

You know what Miss GPS warned you about on SEC Shorts. "Don't go."

Yankees love to put mayo in their food. It’s gross!

Why must people be complete figs with their wedding dates?

Your buddy needs an arse whipping more than what that pooty tang is doing.

Not a bad idea. You most likely won’t be missing much by attending the wedding. Bama will be a 4 TD favorite. There will be other games that are more Competive than this one will be you rather watch.

This is why I had a spring wedding. Weather was beautiful, ceremony was lovely, venue was easier to book than the fall, and no one was pissed for missing a football game.

Who cares, its just a football game. Your buddy's wedding is much more important.

But lucky for you, its 2023, and there are ways to watch the game. Unless its a Catholic wedding, the ceremony should take up like 10 minutes of game time, and hopefully your buddy will have the game on somewhere at the reception. You can pull the game up on your phone if you need to.

....and? Dont' go, problem solved. I've missed weddings, funerals, etc. for games and don't regret it one iota.

I'm not sure what you're crying about. It's not like Arkansas was going to win this game. We already know the outcome. Your buddy also knows that you know the outcome.

Im a die hard Aubie and got married on Iron Bowl Saturday. Here is the story.

My wife had one place and one place only in mind for where she wanted to have the wedding. She loved the place long before she met me and I had family ties to it as my Great Grandfather was born on the place when it was a working cattle farm.

So she and her mother are going to meet the owner and set a date for a fall wedding. I tell her I don't care as long as it isn't the Saturday of the IB.

She calls me later and says that the property has been sold and the new owners are not going to do events anymore and there was only one open date left and after Nov the new owner takes over. Of course it is IB Saturday.

We set up a couple TVs in the lobby and honestly after the minimal bitching it wasnt bad. People partied at an open bar and they would walk out to check the score and watch a few minutes but other than that the wedding was a blast and AU got shredded anyway so it was a great time.

The kicker when I agreed was that from this moment on in perpetuity any year our anniversary falls on same weekend as IB we will postpone celebrations until the following weekend. She has held her end of the bargain thus far through 7 years

True story.
The bride was Bama alumni.
The groom was Auburn alumni.
The families considered this wedding as a betrayal just like Romeo and Juliet.
The bride and groom decided they would marry the day of the Iron Bowl with the wedding begining at kick-off.
At the reception, the bride's family brought in a TV and set it up at one end of the reception hall and the groom's family set up a TV at the other end.
In the middle stood the groom and his new wife, both in tears.
