I would like to see any foul in the last two minutes of play ruled to be intentional. The team fouled is automatically awarded two points and gets the ball out at mid-court. That would stop this nonsense.
My ex-wife was a wedding planner in the mid-80s. She once had a wedding where the bride was from Alabama and the groom from Auburn. It was a regular romeo/juliet thing with both families seeing the wedding as a betrayal.

The bride and groom decided to unify their families to schedule their wedding to coincide with kickoff of the Iron Bowl. You know how that worked out, right?

The reception following the wedding was a disaster. Each family brought a TV into the reception room and tuned to the game. Alabama at one end of the hall and Auburn at the other. The poor bride and groom were left standing in the middle. The bride was in tears.

I do not know if the couple is still married.

Reminds me of a time when I was returning to Ardmore for semester break from Norman. This was before the interstate was completed and there was a long gap from Pauls Valley to Armore.
It was just starting to snow when I left Norman. Should'v turned back but pressed on. By the time I got to the the Washita river, the road was icing over. I was following a highway patrol cruiser and I just drove like he did.

When we cleared the Arbuckles, I tuned into the Ardmore radio station in time to hear them announce that Oklahoma Highway patrol car #54 had just infomred them that the Arbuckles were now closed to all traffic.

Yep, #54 was the car I was following. I was the last car over the Arbuckles that night.

Took over five hours to travel from Norman to Ardmore instead of the usual 90 minutes. My parents were all over me for even attempting the drive.

re: First OU Football Game Attended

I had to look it up but my first in person game was 26 Sep 1964 when we lost to USC 14-40. That was Gomer Jones (bless his heart) first season.
My earliest memories of Oklahoma football was listening to a game on the radio. We didn't have TV, we were making ice cream sitting under a black jack tree. Mid 50s.

Well, actually Oklahoma once 'invaded' Texas (According to Texas).
The border between Texas and Oklahoma is unique in that it doesn't follow center of channel for the Red River. The Indian Treaties established the border as the southern bank of the Red River.
After Oklahoma and Texas jointly built bridge across the Red. (this was in the 20s or 30s), Texas wanted to charge a toll which Oklahoma refused.
Texas installed a toll booth on the center of the bridge thinking that was the border. The Oklahoma govenor mobilized the Oklahoma National Guard, had the NG tear down the booth and throw it into the water. Texas sued claiming Oklahoma had invaded Texas and unlawfully destroyed state property.
The Supreme Court ruled in favor of Oklahoma.
This kind of thing has been going on for decades. The voters in some district lean on their elected representative and tha representative does something like this.
Technically it's not a road game but the game with Texas isn't a home game either. It's played in Dallas.

Is the SEC ready for Texas?

It would not appear so.
This was coach Franchione's first year at TAMU after resigning as the coach of Alabma. One of the highlights of that game was the Oklahoma band play "Sweet Home Alabama" in the third quarter to honor Franchione.
