Now that we've closed another season for the SEC, I went ahead and updated the historical rankings that we've played around with for a few years now. Everybody thinks various things should matter more or less, so feel free to ask for an adjustment and I'll try to do it and show what the rankings look like with that adjustment.

To have a set start date, only results from 1939 (the year the NCAA Tournament began) are included. Conference titles/Tournament titles are in whatever league a school was in.

> National Title - 150 points
> National Runner Up - 75 points
> Final Four Semifinal - 50 points
> Elite 8 - 25 points
> Sweet 16 - 15 points
> Round 32 - 10 points
> Round 68 - 5 points
> Conference Championship (Regular Season) - 12 points
> Conference Tournament Championship - 5 points
> Losing Season - (-5 pts)

Henderson gif is an automatic upvote. Probably my favorite gif of all time.

The Ole Miss radio crew guy with the delighted look on his face is my favorite.

You will never convince me that one single final four appearance outweighs having a worse overall win percentage as a program than Avery Johnson had as a coach in the NBA or College.

So Texas will be historical top 3 in Men's big three sports?

I think the the Regular Season Championship probably should carry a little bit more weight. Probably in line with a Sweet 16 if not a little more with just the randomness of the NCAAT.

This isn't a Historical Basketball Rankings then, its a NCAAT basketball rankings. It's fine just doesn't show the full picture.

I would add points to NBA draftees, ranked at end of regular season as well.

Interesting formula

Of course I’d always rank Florida ahead of OU and Texas because of the 2 national championships (those two have 0)

I think over 100% of A&M's points came in the last 20 years.

Yeah. It’s hard to come up with scoring models. The tournament used to be only 8 teams during some of OU’s and Texas’ E8/F4s, not sure that should be the same points as those during 64 team era.

No wonder Georgia hates basketball. Also makes sense why Chris Beard found a landing spot quickly Only one way to go from the bottom..
