He deserves to be in the hall, but it's a little too on the nose to change the line to exactly match his %. Set it to 58% or something seemingly objective instead of 60% or Mike Leach.

Didn’t Les Miles sue LSU for vacating some of his wins? This would make that irrelevant.

Tell ya what ... there was something special about that guy. Helluva coach. Helluva football mind.

He deserves to be in the HoF no matter how many wins he has

I loved when he said “I’m a man, I’m 40”

That was a great line but I’m partial to “ask not what your country can do for you…”

Wut? I thought that was the mullet guy at Okie St ... Gundy.

You are correct. Gundy said that, not Leach.

He's got the necessary wins if you don't have the officials blatantly securing a Memphis win in the 2021 game. They even allowed Memphis to score with 13 players on the field, plus a coach.

It a weird requirement in that it rewards some who are probably undeserving and hurts others who are. Howard Schnellenberger had a .511 winning percentage, but built programs at Miami (won a natty), Louisville and Florida Atlantic from basically nothing. Not eligible based on this criteria, but probably should be in.

Yeah, you get punished for taking over shite programs even if you eventually turn them around.

Huge influence on the modern game

If we're really being honest, did Mike Leach really have a hall of fame worthy career?

Apparently he did after they lowered the bar

Honestly? Yes! He and a handful other coaches popularized an offense that is used today from high school through the NFL. His lower winning percentage is partly from taking over losing programs.
user avatar
Exactly. And he started at Oklahoma installing that offense there. I hated him while he was at Texas Tech cause he could routinely get his teams ready to kick A&M's arse, but I respect the hell out of him and his off-color humor.

Leach won at MSU with Joe Moorhead’s talent. Easy to win when you follow up a HOF coach and associated successful program like that.

That makes Les Miles eligible also (59.7%)
