Not really gonna argue about the talent level vs Mizzou. Injuries were big, but even without Brazile and NSJ it probably shouldn't have been a 10th place finish.
I think the team thought they could line up and just out athlete the other team. Just couldn't put it all together.
I think Arkansas is going to be fine longterm.

I don't have a problem with Muss.
I think he needs to figure out how to approach the refs better.
There are fundamentals this team this year is lacking. We lost some talent this year to injuries.
Generally speaking, he's intelligent and he will figure it out. I think this year shows us that transfers are better overall than lottery picks.

Arky main problem was too many 4-5 studs that can jump out of a gym, but nobody that can shoot a 3. Some level-headed players that would play for the good of the team and not to the good of their personal stats.

More emphasis on shooting might help in recruiting.
Good athletes can be motivated and taught to be good defenders. It's rare to turn bad shooters into good shooters once they reach the college level.

Muss is fine, we have a very young team with many of them watching the NBA vs focusing on the game. I don't see how a kid goes to the NBA when they aren't at a place to carry their team to the NCAA tourney. We are basically NIT bound.
Now if one of them was putting up 70 a game and we didn't make it in.. well okay I can see him going to the NBA. But I don't see any player on our team doing that and I don't think any of them are ready for the NBA.

Muss is a good coach and we're lucky to have him. If he continues recruiting well, how can not be happy? Teams that rely on freshman always disappoint and this one is no different.
Having said that, I have plenty of criticism for Muss, but I don't know that we could do better, either.

Muss is in the Bert/Tit Boss mold of Arky coaches.
Starts off with potential, then everyone starts to realize it was all smoke and mirrors and he sucks too.

I know this is tRant but I disagree on Muss trailing off. Not every single season will go as expected (unless you're kU because they made a deal with the devil).
Muss is one of the best coaches in CBB. He's a massive douche and I can't stand him but facts are facts. Arky had a tough year with injuries and just couldn't get in sync but Muss is not the problem.

Yes those elite eights are all just smoke and mirrors right?

If your season is completely reliant on Trevon Brazile.. you might not be the smartest coach
True enough, but it wasn't just Brazile. They spent the whole off season building a rotation that included Brazile AND Nick Smith Jr. as key cogs. Then once the season just gets started good, two key pieces are gone and you have to more or less rebuild your unit.
I will say I am disappointed in the performance inconsistencies of most of the players - particularly their shooting. Just free throw shooting by itself cost us a few games.

This sounds like your football coach too tbh.

I want to know who are the one and dones that Arkansas, Bama, and Auburn lose this year to the draft.
Alabama will obviously lose Miller. Clowney is probably 50/50 depending on whether he's fine late 1st or if he wants to come back and be a lottery pick in 2024. Return everyone else.

I think Muss has the best chance of getting his stars to stay an extra year.
Black and Smith are both top 10 selections. Zero chance they will stay.
I'd love to see with with TB, Walsh, Blocker, Baye Fall, and Devo next year. With some role guys off the bench.

yeah Smith and Black are gone for sure. Probably Council but he has a year left if he doesn't get good feedback.
Walsh may go but he would benefit from an offseason and another year IMO.
Brazile was playing at a high level before the injury, not sure what that means now.
Fingers crossed that Ford, Dunning, and Pinon stay and develop.
Twins and Graham still have eligibility remaining if they choose to stay.

Walsh will be back. He is not close at all being ready for the NBA.

I've got no real issues with Muss. Not sure if he's the right guy to load up on one and dones, though.
This season was a major letdown. Hopefully he can right the ship next season.
Also, it wouldn't hurt if he recruited some guys that make layups, FTs, and an occasional 3pt shot.

What are your thoughts on Muss right now?
Muss is great. The one and done straight out of high school kids can sign elsewhere, moving forward.

Muss is fine and I'm thrilled to have him.
I would, however, like to see him tone it down a bit toward officiating. We can all agree officiating has sucked arse this year but Muss puts a target on his back with his antics. And, the team follows suit.
If I were an official, I would honestly hate Muss and a few of our players.

One thing to keep in mind for players considering going pro is that NBA teams' approach has changed over the last few years.
In the past, if you were an NBA GM you were looking to draft a player who was ready to make your roster and contribute immediately. Now, with the G League, teams can draft a player who may not be ready to contribute now, but with a year or two more experience and seasoning will be.
This gives a player who may not be NBA ready now but will be in a year or two the option to go pro and continue to develop while getting paid well to play in the G league and perhaps a few NBA games during the season.
