Kentucky vs UT
Game went into three overtimes with Tenn winning by 2. Kentucky had not beaten the Vols since 84. Game gave Tenn the east title instead of Georgia. Georgia could have had the hottest team in football going up against a backup QB. I guess we will never know

I think about that game a lot

Back then, were posters on the SEC rant responding with 1980? I think so.

No "may have" about it. I remember being in the stands at bobby Dodd and all the UGA people barely watching our game bc they were glued to phones or radios listening to the Kentucky game. If UK wins we're likely national champs. It's insane how ridiculously close UGA is from winning 5 natties this century (not including Monday).

We beat that UGA team 16-12 in Sanford. What a game that was.

Kentucky had about 6 solid chances to win that game

Mizzou losing to Oklahoma in the Big 12 CG that year…oh what could have been.

Ah, Tennessee's only SEC East win of the last 20 years.
It was complete bullshite. And then Tennessee had another horse shoe in the arse game right after that against Arkansas, where the one quarterback for Arkansas got hurt so they put in his little brother to play quarterback. And Tennessee farted around the whole game but still found a way to win. That game was my introduction to Jim Chaney.
I'm biased, but LSU would've got their shite completely pushed in by Georgia in the SECCG that season.

Erik Ainge going color blind in the 4th quarter of the SECCG decided the 2007 national title. Tennessee wins that game if their QB protects the ball in the 4th quarter

I give that Matt Ryan epic win over Virginia Tech a lot of credit as well. Even though I hate the Falcons, I never said a bad word about Ryan out of respect for his hand in LSU making the championship that year.

But then we wouldn’t have seen Georgia knock Colt Brennan’s dick in the dirt.

UGA was clearly the best team that year.

Why anyone would believe that Richt would have beat Les in the SEC Championship, I'll never know. Richt was Charlie Brown to CFB's Lucy.
She would tee it up, and pull the ball away from him at the last second.
2007 was a great year. Perhaps one of Richt's best teams. They were certainly the hottest.
But, we lost two games. Everyone always says "RICHT JUST NEEDED A LITTLE LUCK. IT TAKES SOME LUCK TO WIN A NC!" Sometimes, you make your own luck, and you do that by winning the games that you are supposed to win, and winning some of those that you aren't.
Congratulations on 2007, LSU. You "earned" it?

LSU vs UGA that year in the SEC championship would have been an amazing game. We should have beat South Carolina, though. I was a student watching that one from the endzone and it was beyond frustrating watching our offense in that game. It turns out we should have turned to Knowshon Moreno early on.
If there was ever a year for a playoff, that would've been it.

2007 is the weirdest season in the past 25 yrs. Missouri was #1 at one point, Kansas and Boston College #2 at one point.
I have wondered what the 4-team playoff would have been that year.
I would have selected Ohio St., LSU, Oklahoma, Georgia, in that order. Could have had LSU v Georgia for the title. I'd pick Georgia over Ohio St in that matchup. Ohio St was getting exposed by SEC speed at that time, and the year before was when UF beat them to win the title.
That year the final BCS standings were:
1. Ohio St 11-1 Conf Champ, the clear #1 all year, but got exposed by LSU
2. LSU 11-2 Conf Champ went from #7 to #2 by virtue of winning the SECCG
3. Va Tech 11-2 ACC Champ
4. Oklahoma 11-2 Conf Champ
5. Georgia 11-2 Lost to two unranked teams, but played well down the stretch
6. Missouri 11-2 Division Co-Champ, #1 in BCS going into CCG, got demolished by OU

It was both the Kentucky and vandy games.
I think vandy had a 2 score lead in the 4th quarter.

Maybe...but this Georgia team:
Lost to a 6-6 South Carolina team at home;
Was blown out by UT in Knoxville; and
Squeaked by a 5-7 Vanderbilt team by 3 in Nashville.
I think LSU would have taken Georgia, had they met in Atlanta.

Georgia lost the early game vs South Carolina in 2007. A critical upset that year.

Georgia would’ve won it all. LSU was good but not elite. Georgia was beating everyone comfortably by the end of the year.
