Stetson vs Bryce

Got an ANTI-SEC friend who doesn’t think Stetson Bennet will amount to anything in the league. Which made me think of this… If Bryce Young & Stetson Bennet have had almost equal talent around them for the past 2 years, & Bryce is a solid top 5 pick, Stetson hasn’t lost to Bryce and could potentially win the natty both years of Bryce starting at Bama. Why isn’t Stetson getting the same hype

Bryce is better.
Bryce may be the best QB at Bama under saban.

Stetson wasn't highly recruited and he wasn't even highly valued by his own team leading up to the season that he led them to a national championship. He doesn't put up flashy box score numbers due to the type of game plan that UGA runs. His value is seen by those who watch the games, not by those who watch the highlights.

Have yet to read online or hear in real life a Georgia fan make the argument that Stetson Bennett is better than Bryce Young, or even close.

Because Bryce has insane arm talent and the ability to extend plays.

Bryce is a game changer who single-handedly won Alabama a couple games this year and he came pretty close to pulling it off against UT and LSU. Georgia also probably has more talent than Bama at this point.
Georgia has tried to replace Stetson a few times, so what does that tell you? Stetson is a good QB but you can probably plug in anyone at Georgia and still dominate. So that’s why he doesn’t get the same hype.

Throws > 20+ yards down field
Bryce Young
116.9 QB Rating (#21 FBS)
18/43 (41.9%)
642 yards
14.9 YPA
5 TD/1 INT
Stetson Bennett
70.7 QB Rating (#120 FBS)
19/52 (36.5%)
676 yards
13.0 YPA
4 TD/5 INT
% of attempts behind the LOS
- Bennett - 24.6% (#17)
- Young - 15.6% (#84)
Stetson does a great job doing what is required within their offense and has a great play caller. He is given lots of easy situational throws which he does flawlessly. He also has a solid arm, great mobility and throw well on the run. He's not just some little guy that throws screens all day long.
Bryce is Alabama's offense and has an average at best playcaller. He single handedly gave Alabama the lead or left tied the last time he touched the ball in all 12 games we played this season and in 26 of the 27 games he started at Alabama. I'm not sure how anyone could watch him play and not recognize what type of player and competitor he is.

Stetson will get drafted.
May even be a top 10 QB taken.
His age works against him (mobility is a strength but he doesn't have the same longevity with it as a 21-22 year old).
He makes great plays. He is smart and grinds. He would be a great addition to a QB room.
Against LSU, he was late on some throws. He can force the ball at times. And he has an issue opening up to his right and quickfiring a screen/flare at times (high/low).
He isn't as good as some other guys.
But he is better than he is given credit (i.e. possible top 10 QB drafted).

Bryce beat Stetson in the SECCG last year.
Bryce Young is also a better QB.

If BoB coached at UGA, no one would know Stetson's name.
Bryce is a special talent that was unfortunately wasted.

Bryce should be the unanimous Heisman winner this year. He deserves it even more than last year (when I would have had no qualms with J. Williams winning it). Alabama would be 6-6 without him.
Stet is a very good college QB who has had an incredible career who probably won't turn into anything in the NFL. I'm not sure why people are always looking to downplay what he's done.

Me neither.

Because NFL teams don’t care about your teams success if you play better than the other guy.
They aren’t drafting your team.

Stetson won't be drafted. This debate isn't real.

Stetson doesn’t play defense.
Stetson Bennett isn’t even going to hold a clipboard in the NFL.

Did you miss the 41-24 shellacking in the SECG last Dec.?

Stetson Bennett threw for 27 yards in the first half against Georgia Tech.

QB scouting in the NFL is a joke. They fall in love with measurables and ignore the two most important aspects of QBing - can he process information quickly and can he throw accurately.
No scout is putting his professional reputation on the line for someone like Stetson. If he fails the organization jumps on the scout, "How could you grade him so high? He's too small and doesn't have a rocket arm!". If a Herbert or an Elway fail, the scout can blame it on coaching and development.
I think the kid can play at the next level, personally.
