$6.5 million / year for 6 years.
Incentives on/off field can push him up to $10 mill a year if he gets us the Ship!
Buyout is 75% of remaining contract balance.
I like it a lot! I think all HC should be a fair base rate and anymore will be performance based!
WDE!

Damn, I hope he makes that 10 million dollar bonus.

Dumb as hell.

I expected the buyout to be incremental increases as he performs and behaves. I’d like to see the out clauses for cause.

I disagree, each year it diminishes and with all the guarantees these days we would be off the hook for a lot. I predict at worst we keep him 3 years if it’s a full bust.
Year by year:
2023: $24,375,000
2024: $19,500,000
2025: $14,625,000
2026: $9,750,000
2027: $4,875,000

Auburn had all the leverage. No one wanted Freeze. Anyone with some very basic negotiation skills could have easily made that buyout 4 JHS souvenir cups filled with bottle caps, a lifetime B Zone parking pass, & a truck load of Yellawood discards.

Great contract the 75% buyout is pretty standard now for Sexton clients. I love that it is incentive based

Looks like they are beginning to listen to how to draft these contracts

I have grown to really hate that guy.

You obviously live in a Willy Wonka world of lollipop trees and chocolate rivers.

A B-Zone parking pass is nothing to sneeze at.

lifetime B Zone parking pass,

I think I had one as a GTA. I haven’t thought about all that in a long time.

This is how these coach contracts should be structured.

75% buyout is the industry standard. If you think Freeze was the "industry standard" hire, I don't know what to tell you. He was clearly damaged goods and AU was the only one kicking the tires.

My objections aside, it is insane we made the buyout that large. We had 100% of the leverage in this negotiation and still bent over for millions and millions more dollars.
Mind blowing.
Mind blowing.

I’m sure we have a stiff morality clause in there that can void the buyout.
I don’t think this buyout will come into play. Freeze can turn around a program but I question how high the ceiling is.
He had fairly quick success at Ole Miss and Liberty and that’s what he sells, but afterwards can he sustain? 8-5 at Liberty with Malik (which was supposed to be his proof that he can win without cheating) isn’t special.

Seems like it is an Auburn standard.
Gus 75%
Harsin 70%
Freeze 75%
I thought it was dumb when Auburn did it for Malzahn, and dumber that we keep doing it. But I guess it is the “standard” now.
