If Mississippi state beats LSU this week i mean Nebraska football needs a culture shock and that would be it. Yet, LSU probably will win

Why would he take a step down? They probably don't even have the money to match his salary at State now that they have to pay Frost.

Leach gets 4+ million to win 8 games. Mississippi jobs are some of the best in the country for schools that don't compete or have expectations for CFP playoff.

Do they? I think they probably want to get back to tough nose physical Nebraska. Something similar to Iowa. Good defense, good ground game, game manager QB.

I honestly can't see any SEC head coach leaving for Nebraska. IMO Nebraska's best bet is to hit up coordinators or NFL assistants.

Nebraska doesn't fit the Leach-job mold.

Purdue and Michigan State are the Leachiest jobs in the Big 10.

Why would Mike Leach go to Nebraska? I think Nebraska should go after the K-State coach. Coached multiple national championship teams at North Dakota State and has done a good job at K-State. He seems like the obvious choice.

Why doesn't Nebraska just cut the crap and go after Hugh Freeze? They aren't going to lure away a successful Power 5 coach- and HF would jump onboard immediately*...

(*All speculation on my part- but it makes sense, right? )

I just checked and theres not a single Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville in all of Nebraska.

There is however one in Biloxi.

Leach ain't going nowhere.

Lol Leach is retiring at Mississippi State. It makes way more sense to make a rumor about the Mississippi coach that was born in Lincoln than it does Leach.

Leach is the least of things they need.

Hopefully Bill O is on a plane to discuss the details of his new contract with the Huskers.

At Leach’s age, it is doubtful he is going anywhere. He had significant tenures at TT and WS and he seems to be building something pretty good here. He does not appear to be a coach who is going to keep doing this past his late 60’s to may be 70.
So at 61 IMO he will be at State another 6-8 years before hanging it up for good. And based on his previous record he will be successful. How successful, remains to be seen.

The media speak glowingly of the Neb job. I don't get it.
Neb is fast becoming a distant memory.
Devaney is deceased and Dr Tom is not coming back.

I read that Georgia Southern set the all time record for yards by a visiting team.

Nebraska will never work trying a Leach offense because skill players won't go there. Leach knows that. The Cornhuskers need to be road grading power runners.

People are overvaluing the Nebraska job by a mile. No recruiting pipeline, no success since joining big ten, and a fanbase with unrealistic expectations.

In todays world, any P5 school with a decent coach that they like can match what Nebraska can offer.

They’re not gonna pull a big name. Either a middling coach like Matt Campbell or a P5 coordinator most likely

Osbourne's only 85. May be time to unretire.

I’m also genuinely curious when the last time an SEC coach willingly left the conference for another college job
