yeah...did you not have that uncomfortable reading of to kill a mockingbird at your school around 8th grade? It was good for reflection

We read it. But I didn’t go to school in the 1970s so we definitely didn’t say the word out loud.

Pretty weird take to think a white coach saying nigg* to a room full of people 4 times should be treated the same way as if a black coach said it...

I hate willful ignorance.

Anyone gonna condemn this, or are racially charged insults sort of condoned here?

You have been on this site since 2017 and this is some shock to you?

OU WR coach quits

The real reason he stepped down was Alabama got this recruit 4-star Owasso, Okla. WR Cole Adams.

I don’t come around much. Usually just to laugh at A&M fans. But you’re right, probably shouldn’t be surprised.

Different treatment based on skin color is racism, or used to be before society decided that racism was only racism if the white person was the perpetrator. Once that happened, amazingly such innocuous acts as reading a book like Of Mice and Men made the reader a racist( but only if he was white) and books long held as classics were banned.

Went to the bulk of the games in the 00s as an undergrad. Most of the UF games I attended the last decade. To be fair, I heard it plenty at OU frat parties and all that.

Reading through the thread, it looks like the vast majority of you also think his resigning is dumb.

Well no shite. The south is full of a lot of racist inbreds and many of them post on this board.

Then why don't you leave. As to the OP, sucks that this started because some player wasn't paying attention.

Why can’t we apologize or own our mistakes without being tarred and feathered over something that is not meant in malice? And why do we have to apologize for something someone else said or did now over 100 years ago?

A man gave up his job for reading another man’s words, not a good decision but he shouldn’t be crucified for it. This is ridiculous and is not making things better.

If he were Asian, Mexican, Arab, Indian, Native American and said the n word, they would be fired too, you’re just mad it happened to a white guy trying to argue people should be allowed to use racial slurs bc insert whatever reasoning, good grief man

I was fairly certain that Professors were protected from certain things as long as they are teaching. At least at South Carolina they are. Sometimes to teach you have to be able to challenge critically, and you have to be able to talk about things that can get you canned in other professions

It’s 2022, there are few protections if the crosshairs of negative public reaction have you.

The only reason he would resign in the middle of the night is because he KNEW he fricked up. Today venables said he said the word several times. He probably had a racist outburst cuz he was mad, realized he fricked up, and tried to quit before anyone made it a big deal. Too late.
