We lose kessler and Jabari this year. How long until we are back in this spot? Recruiting isn't looking great so far and an early exit doesn't help

To the round of 32? Hopefully soon, it's not like that is some great achievement.

This time last year no one was thinking Kessler would be in Auburn so who knows what's in store for next year.

Back to what? a round of 32 team? probably next year. Pick up 2 good grad transfers and we're good. Need a big body a 3 man and a damn good defensive guard.

Really need some mofos that can shoot

When Bruce starts winning some recruiting battles for good guards who ideally stick around for a few years.

Guards win games in March. We need to figure that out since Jasper KD and Greene really aren't floor generals

When we run an actual offense and not just settle for a 3 or an out of control drive.

We need guards and shooters. Let’s sacrifice some defense but build a potent offense!

We averaged basically 80 pts a game most of the season I think it dipped down to about 78 over the past 3 weeks.

Veteran guards that are experienced in Bruce’s system.
-A decent shot from the 3 and stretch 4.
-An active 5 that can clean up the boards and make putback shots

This is the kind of team that I think takes us further down the road.

Looking back over Bruce’s coaching career he has secured 7 regular season conference championships. Most of those championships ended up being the gist of the season. Those seasons were great but those teams had a few missing pieces and this year’s squad ended with a result awfully similar to 2018’s. So what does it take to achieve 2019? It takes more improvement from Zep and Greene. It takes finding a Malik Dunbar player that can rebound and shoot. I think Jaylin can be that guy as a 4 but I don’t think Jaylin can be feature player.

1s
Zep
KD
Shackleford clone
Jaylin
Kessler

2s
Greene
Tevin
Westry
Flanny
Cardwell

This tteam could work.

Fwiw I only included Tevin because Auburn fans seems enamored by Murray State now. We need a similar guard though. I like Garcia from State.

I don't understand the Wendell Green hate. He's not the shooter Harper was from deep but he's pretty comparable to Sophomore year Harper.

Edit: Because I just remembered people still hated Harper around the end of his sophomore year

Point remains that Green could make a jump next year and be junior year Harper

Do you follow Auburn basketball from year to year? After last season, we lost Cooper, Thor, Powell, Franklin and Jamal Johnson. At this point then, we didn't have Green, KD, Zep or Kessler. Bruce will hit the transfer portal hard. There are also LSU decommits that are available.

Kessler and Jabari combined for 3-22 from the field.

Amazing.

That’s just crazy. Especially considering those shots were the same shots they were scoring on all season. Not like Miami was forcing them to take bad ones

This team was basically made from the transfer portal in less than a year other than a few notables from Flanigan and some of the other remainders

Winning the outright SEC title is difficult. So it may take a while. Just 8 years ago we were bottom of the league. Bruce has us where no one else has before him and no one could have predicted.

2022 (28-6) SEC Champions
2021 (13-14) Covid, NCAA
2020 (25-6) NO NCAA OR SEC TOURNAMENT COVID, that team was peaking at the right time.
2019 (30-10) Final 4, SEC Tourney Champs
2018 (26-8) SEC Champions (Shared)
---------------------
2017 (18-14) (11th in the conference)
2016 (11-20) (13th in the conference)
2015 (15-20) (13th in the conference)
----------------------
Now the Barbee Years
2014 (14-16) (12th in the conference)
2013 (9-23) (14th in the conference)

2011 (11-20) (5th in the west)
--------------------------------
LEBO, JEFF6 seasons
2010 (15-17) (4th in the west)
2009 (24-12) (2nd West), NIT Quarterfinals
2008 (14-16) (6th, LAST in the west)
2007 (17-15) (T-3rd)
2006 (12-16) (t-5th)
2005 (14-17) (T-5th)
---------------------------------
Cliff Ellis (1994-2004), 10 years.
4 NIT Bids, 3 NCAA Bids (1 Sweet 16, 2 Second Round), SEC Championship in 1998/1999 Season.
Overall record 186-125 (.598)
--------------------------------------
Tommy Joe Eagle. 5 seasons, 1 NIT First round loss, never a winning season in the SEC (Went 8-8 in the NIT year). Overall 64-58 and 29-55 in the SEC.

-------------------------------------
