Here's the 4 Ways This Could End

There are only four possible ways this ends:
1) It blows over.
Auburn will need some good PR to recover from it. You'll need a big presser called where the Prez and AD make clear they investigated and all the rumors are unfounded. If this happens, I do not think it will be all that bad. It will blow over after a while and things will be fine. This is personally what I hope happens.
2) Fired with cause.
Believe it or not, AU might not want this as much as you might think at first glance. Harsin can (and will) drag them through court if they don't have something that is 100% rock solid and indisputable. None of the GOB's want pre-trial discovery nor do they want to sit for depositions. It will expose the way they operate to the public. The only way this is the best option for them is if something 100% indisputable is discovered. I don't think they have that, so I think they avoid this option completely.
3) Fired without cause.
Not only will AU owe him $18 million, but the PR hit will be atrocious. AU's name will be mud nationwide. The ESPN talking heads will have a field day for months. Auburn already has a terrible reputation in the coaching community, but this will make it 100 times worse. For Harsin's replacement, AU will be stuck hiring a high-school coach or some unknown coordinator. I think this is absolutely the worst decision for the GOB's (money) and Auburn in general (bad PR and a new incompetent coach).
4) Settlement Agreement.
This is what, I think, Auburn wants most. The GOB's and Harsin sit in a smoke-filled room and reach an agreement. The GOB's convince Harsin he will never be successful as coach and that he will be offered the option to "resign." Harsin holds a presser saying he is stepping down for the good of the program (or some such vague statement). In return they pay him a few million. Most importantly, though, Harsin will be forced to sign an NDA agreeing never to talk about what really happened AND to never take them to court. This option is absolutely best for GOB's because A) it's cheaper and B) they will buy Harsin's silence and C) avoid litigation. However, this is the absolute WORST option for the rest of us. Harsin would "resign" which means the public never learns what actually happened or who was truly at fault. We will just be stuck with all the rumor and innuendo forever. 20 years from now there will be posts here arguing over it.

Pretty sure it's #4 but we're going to be paying a number that reflects Harsin's wrongdoing was minimal

I feel like these are listed from least likely to most likely.

Yea don’t see that happening. There may be a settlement but I don’t think Harsin is gonna take the majority of blame, whether he actually did anything wrong or not.

What can they show? If this could be shown it would have. Bowden tried, did not stick. What corruption are you talking about?

When I say "corrupt" I really mean "who runs the show." It might not be "corrupt" in a legal sense, but it is somewhat shady. ESPN made note of it with their recent article. Insiders told them "It's always hard to know who is running things at Auburn."

I just don’t see #4 happening. If Harsin was never truly a cultural fit, and the PTB wanted him gone, I just can’t see him conceding.

Yea I mean if Auburn has anything they will fire him for cause. If not, they won’t. Harsin may accept a reduced buyout just to get the hell out of auburn, but no shot he accepts any blame if he doesn’t think he did anything wrong. He’s always seemed to have an ego. Just don’t see him doing anything to make auburn look better if they truly fire him.

Harsin left his comfy job at Boise, his home, his alma mater which he had pretty much running on all cylinders to come to Auburn and get ousted after one year.
I expect him to go scorched earth.
If he doesn’t…..well, he probably had a few skeletons he doesn’t want to see the light of day.

The fact that Harsin continued his vacay in Mexico tells me he plans to come back as the coach or leave with his full payout. I don't think there is anyway he takes a settlement. If he thought they had anything on him he would have come back to begin negotiations.

Harsin is a fighter. #4 will not happen

#2 if I’m Bryan Harsin. I’m going to make these motherfrickers pay and drag their skeletons out in front of God and everybody. frick it. Burn this bitch to the ground. I’d be pissed. Hell I AM pissed and I’m not even Bryan Harsin.

Honest question, what if the PTB know way more than we do and Harsin is complete shite? What if all of these rumors are true? I’m not really sure how you can confidently dig your heels in for either side at this point.

If he realizes that his life will be made difficult at AU (PR, recruiting, internal power struggles), then I can definitely see him conceding, taking a bag of cash, and just getting out. No, he won't get the full $18 million, but will probably get a few mil if I had to guess (settlement details would be secret which is the point of the whole idea).
However, if they try to fire him for cause, this means he gets $0 AND his reputation takes a massive hit. In that case, I can definitely see him fighting it out in court. I 100% believe he would fight it unless they have videos of him snorting lines off a hooker's arse or something.

Harsin has never shown that side in the coaching stops he’s had and the PTB routinely do egotistical shite meddling in the affairs of the athletic dept. at AU so if I’m going off of history then I’m siding with Harsin. If I’m wrong then I’ll eat crow but these stooges have a track record of fricking Auburn up.

You forgot one.
5) In court
With Harsin demanding to face his accusers in public and potentially costing some beat writers a big big beat down in dollars and prestige. While at least exposing those comfortably hidden tale bearers, who think they can buy (or ruin) anyone, and foolishly believe they can get away with anything they want.
It's in his DNA and not for sale. It's something money can't buy and something the Wayward-PTB had better considered before heading down this path. Because you don't f'around with a totally committed man's marriage or family.
Unless this is more than rumor gone crazy and blindsiding him while out of town wasn't just another low blow.

All of these outcomes and approaches all depend on Harsin’s innocence.
If I was innocent and you hired me away from my home and a school I loved - to turn around and stab me in the back and drag my name through the mud?
It’s going to be scorched earth for every cockroach hiding in your closet.

Remember when they hired Leath when there was some obviously questionable shite going on? Remember how they fired Leath and paid him more to not work here than the actual value of his cotract?
Remember how they gave our last football coach that ridiculous, unwarranted buyout clause?
Sometimes rich people make really, really bad decisions based on their ego.

If I were Harsin I would settle but for no less than 15 million.
Then move to the West Coast and restart my career.
