Is it time to admit Nate Oates isn’t a good coach?

Case of great recruiter but bad coach? Don’t get me wrong, he has put excitement back into the program, but how much rope will he be given based on the poor performance so far this year?

I have a lot of questions for some of the losses this year.

Hit submit too soon. Oats still has time to prove himself. I think he is a great coach and needs some time to grow at Alabama.

I think it’s fair to call him out on not having any answers.

“We have to figure out how to play harder.”

“Maybe they’ll figure it out.”

Either this team is 100% uncoachable, or he doesn’t know how to coach them.

At least he isn't a partisan hack.

Oates is still learning, as is our young team. He has to reestablish the heart and passion last year's team had. Not any easy job.

Dude, you way out of line for this thread PERIOD. THE PLAYERS (LEADERS) NEED TO GROW A PAIR...Nate Oats is an exceptional coach. We just got a lot of guys with no GET UP ABOUT THEM.

Case of good recruiter, good coach, just a bad stretch during a season

Oats has earned the right for us to overlook this lost year.

He won the SEC season and title last year. I think he gets a season or two to work some things out

It is hard to know if this is just a bad group of players or indicative of bad coaching.

When you see a team that isn’t poorly coached but their performance is based on the other team’s jersey, that’s usually on the players and their respect for the game.

I'm not going to say he isn't a good coach, but he's clearly going to have to take a massive step up on the learning curve about how to deal with whatever the hell issues this team has moving forward.

Because so far, his response and ability to mold guys into positive players as they descend into chaos has been a big fat fail.

This team makes bipolar people seem stable. Best I can say about this season, so far.

Oats and the team will die a slow death over the next 2 months.
That is guaranteed.

Now, Oats will have to do sone soul searching in the offseason.

Does he seek advice, learn from mistakes, find a better approach?

Does he just be lazy and try the same thing again, expecting different results?

What a FOG thread if I’ve ever seen one. You ain’t posted all fricking year in our basketball thread and now you wanna start this shitty thing.

Guarantee you’ve only watched 3 or 4 games this season.

This ain’t an Oats problem, His offense works..It gets wide open looks all the time…he can’t make the shots for the kids.

Problem is a lack of leadership on the floor. We don’t have a Herb Jones out there. We don’t have one on the roster! Rojas is likely the closest thing we have. We need someone to step up and take charge!

Not going to say he's a bad coach, but he's doing a bad job with this team.
