As a Dawg fan this was my favorite obviously, but in terms of a football game I thought it was a close 2nd to the 2017 final (even though that sucked for us).

So prob #2 overall.

This was my all time favorite for obvious reasons but objectively I don’t think you can beat the UGA Rose Bowl as the best CFP ever. I’d also put it behind 2017 as far as pure watchability.

1st half was dead last

2nd half was #2 easily, if not #1

After the Bama injuries and Young’s performance late in the game (he might have had COVID), Bama should have followed aggy’s lead and forfeited in the 4th Q in order to avoid the L

I thought it was a great game. Had it all.

First half was old school smash mouth football.

Second half was more open.

Hard hitting throughout.

Intense but somewhat boring first half. (I now know how the rest of the sec felt about the 9-6 game in 2011)
Absolutely incredible second half.

This was a very entertaining game

It was good. The 2017 game going to OT was probably the best. A couple of our Clemson duels I have as 2 and 3, this one is 4th in my book. The pick 6 at the end made it a little anti-climactic

Even though we lost, I still enjoyed the game. It wasn't decided until the end, with a pick-6.

Great game Georgia fans.

PS - I really have to give it to the (PAC-12?) refs. I believed they called a great game. The controversies were obvious but they seemed to make the right calls every (or nearly) time.

Boring, but can understand GA fans excited about it. Didn't even watch the entire game.

For Dawg fans, it should be #1 and then the Rose Bowl being #2.

Not including any LSU games so I can be objective, I thought the 2017 NCG was most exciting finish but people forget the 1st half was not that exciting either because it was all Georgia.

For back and forth exciting and some surprises, I'd have to go with Bama/Clemson 2015. That game could have gone either way. Saban was just bolder and for once, coaching to win instead of not lose.

I'm in my 50s, so I'm a little more old school about football, and a good defensive battle is fun to watch for me. Both these teams were going after each other in the first half. Watching it break open on offense in the second half was fun as well. So from an objective standpoint, I thought it was a good game to watch. Better than all the NC blowouts from the past 10 years, so Top 3 at least.

Only bad thing about the game is that I'm an Auburn fan, and I wanted both teams to lose. :) Congratulations on your title. I know you guys are happy to have that monkey off your back.

Well that's why you think it was boring....it all happened in the 4Q

This was better than the first matchup IMO, but the Clemson last second TD vs Alabama in the 2017 CFPCG has been the best so far.

2017
2022
2018
2016

The only 2 other games that stand out were the Georgia Rose Bowl game, the controversial Clemson game over Ohio St, and Ohio St beating Alabama in 2014.

If you include the BCS National Championship games, none of these top 2003, 2006, 2011, or 2014 in terms of pure entertainment.

Same here. The last drive started to give me Iron Bowl thoughts, Bama with a shot to tie and send to OT. They were even moving the ball and had made it to around midfield before the interception. Great game by the Georgia D and it was fitting that it was a great defensive play that sealed the win for the Dawgs. Even though the final was a 15 pt win, it was a close game with neither team leading by more than one score throughout. 4th quarter was great. Bama takes the lead with maybe 10-12 minutes left and Georgia answers with a 3 and out then scores on the next possession to take it back.

I think it was ACC refs, but I might be remembering that wrong..

My answers are clearly biased but in terms of competitive games that were exciting from start to finish in the CFP era here’s what I have

2015 Bama v Clemson: highly competitive and had everything. Big offensive plays on the ground and in the air, significant defensive stops, explosive special teams, critical FGs…it all mattered. Plus in the 2nd year of the CFP you only had one team from the previous year’s selection make it back. This would not happen again until 2021.

2016 Bama v Clemson: highly competitive rematch but Kiffin leaving the week before and while injuries are part of the game, Bo breaking his leg mid game is enough to put 2015 ahead to me. I can see others maybe flipping the two though

2017 Bama v UGA: Bama getting behind resulting in Saban benching a 26-2 starter at QB to put in a freshman QB, 3 freshman WRs, and a freshman LT to win in OT is something only the absolute fringe of Bama fans could’ve predicted

2021 Bama v UGA: 1980 snapped and fairly competitive (if not slightly boring initially). Again, injuries are part of the game but I think most everyone thought it was inevitable once Jamo went down. Still competitive into the 4th Q, and had this gone into OT might’ve ranked higher even with an Bama L

2019 LSU v Clemson: Somewhat competitive until late 3rd/early 4th. While I understand that Clemson won their semi final on a controversial call, I thought OSU was a better team

2014 OSU v Oregon: Hard to rank a game high when a semi finalist put up a much better fight than the team that lost the final

2018 Bama v Clemson: Bama deserved to be in the game but had nothing left and it was blatantly obvious. Very lopsided win and as above, hard to rank a game high when the semi finalist did a better job than the loser of the final

2020 Bama v OSU: probably top 3 for me personally but easily the biggest blowout and since it involved two of the most hated teams in CFB I doubt anyone outside of Bama fans enjoyed this game
