This cannot be stated enough. In its current format the rich just get richer because who wants to go to a school who doesn't even get a look.
The entire west half of the country has been disengaged at this point.

No, it isn’t. It’s not the same. Playing for a bowl and playing for a spot in the tourney are very different. If you win in the tourney you advance to the next round.
Yes, UK choked after losing to UGA. We should have played much better against MSU but the UT game is a special circumstance. We could be undefeated and the best team in the country but we would still fade against Tennessee, so you really can’t count that one against us. I’ll never understand it.

I’d rather watch 4 extra playoff games vs 4 meaningless bowl games.

It may not change the final result but opening the door for fringe programs to have a possibility of playing on that stage is huge. Play one less nonconference game against a terrible team and it solves itself. Would be good for cfb all around. Keeps players from opting out too
That's an argument for conference expansion, not playoff expansion.

Ole Miss, really funny.
I bet we would beat your team.

The season is the playoff. You're sacrificing all the drama of the season for some extra playoff games that likely won't significantly change the landscape.

A 12-team playoff would give more SEC teams a chance to get in
This is the silliest crap imaginable. Because ..
Round one 12 teams
Round two 6 teams left to play
Round three 3 teams left to play
Who gets the bye? The number one team that then gets a two week rest to kick the hell out of number two or three that survives?
Why not end it there and award the Natty to the Bye team?
Four teams work and eight teams work. Everyone plays the same number of games to get to the final.

Idk where you pulled that quote from but it wasn’t me. I think 8 is the number. I don’t think teams should get byes in the playoff

An expanded playoff allows an opportunity for more upsets and If anything was learned from the SECCG is that Georgia was very beatable. Michigan and Cincinnati can certainly beat Georgia. Notre Dame, Oklahoma State and Baylor would be competitive games.

The conferences that are "left behind" need to become more competitive. The Pac 12 and ACC should be lucky that the SEC chose to raid the Big 12 instead of the Big East and ACC in 2012, or else the Big 12 would have raided the PAC and left them and the ACC on the outside looking in, and the PAC would have been doubly fricked

You're overthinking that result yesterday. There are very few teams that could do what Alabama did to Georgia, it's just that Alabama had played so badly up to that point that people (myself included) just assumed that Alabama had lost that edge. We're so used to Alabama reloading that we forget that it's supposed to take time for teams to recover from losing that many draft picks. Alabama is just finally putting it together, and while I do think Michigan can play with Georgia, they're one of maybe a handful of teams who can, and I don't think Ok St, ND, or Baylor could. Georgia wins games in the trenches and there just aren't that many squads in the country who have the line play to hang with them.

Round one top four get byes. All sets up for 8 teams after that.

I give the same answer to a 12 team football playoff as I do the idea of an expanded NCAA hoops tournament: Will you watch?
I sure as hell will.

Also, it would give middling programs like A&M’s, UK’s and others more motivation to win. The Citrus Bowl is a nice reward for the Cat’s record this year but it would be much more exciting if we had beaten Miss State or UT and were up for one of the 12 playoff positions.
No offense the the great Cat nation but you have no business ever being in the football national championship conversation.

Expansion is ruining college football. You already had the NFL (and it sucks). Now, we have to make college football just like it.

Expanding the playoff will not hurt regular season games if you play more conference games and reward the best conference champions with bye weeks, seeding etc.
I think every conference should play 10 conference games. There should also be some type of ncaa governing body arranging 1 of your 2 out of conference matchups at the beginning of the year based of the previous years performances. You pick 1 cupcake and that’s it. Every week would be full of big schools playing meaningful games vs 2 good games a week.

TAMU was crying so much last year wanting expansion. I guess not being in the top 5 changes things?

Ole Miss would beat UGA. It’s a shame they don’t get a chance

No overthinking a bout it. Saban won't stay at Bama forever and you will have more one loss teams in the future. The SEC is the best conference now but they will have some lean years. Bama never lost the edge but play a schedule full of good teams that were good enough to beat them. ND, Oklahoma State and Baylor can compete with Georgia because they don't have a QB. That weakness is enough for other teams to compete with Georgia. Those teams aren't scrubs.
Bama didn't play great all year but they were good enough to win the SEC and while it could be said that Georgia has more talent than Bama, they have a shitty QB that had no business starting for Georgia. That is why they lost and when you have a weak QB that will give other teams a chance.
