GFMS feels more intimate. The gradient of the main bleachers gets higher seats closer to the field.

DKR just a big sterile mausoleum named after a Sooner.

DKR easily. Nice wide concourses. Great beer and food selection. Generally good sight lines.

Gaylord Family is one of the worst stadiums that I’ve attended. Main issue is the size of the seats. Mostly bleacher style seating that are jammed in way too close together. And I’m 175 lbs so normal size. Makes for extremely uncomfortable game when you’re constantly having to fight against your encroaching neighbors for seat space. Food and beverage selection was not memorable.

OU is in the process of putting together another renovation- it needs it. The fan experience on game day will be great. They’re changing the tailgating rules to put it all of that back on campus which Boren took away 20 years ago. Norman is a good college town.

The light poles in the corner look weird but I guess it works. I’ve never noticed that before.

Perhaps you should talk to your therapist to determine what deep seated issues could be causing you to see giant vaginas

At which one of those stadiums do they play "Boomer Sooner" incessantly from game start to game finish? The other one is your answer.

Reminds me of the early/mid-90s when ESPN would do a night game at Jordan-Hare and bring in a temporary light tower they would put outside the southwest corner.

I’ve been to both within the last 3 years, both being against ranked conference foes. DKR is better by a wide margin in every conceivable category, IMO.

Sight lines
Crowd noise/atmosphere
Comfort
Food
Bathrooms

Literally everything.

Why does DKR have a giant vagina in the endzone?

Never been to OU so can't say anything.

TX games are generally pretty boring from a tailgating perspective. But they do have Bevo Blvd right outside the stadium. Lots of food trucks and beer stands.

One has a more nostalgic, original feeling to it, while the other is more modernized.

Don't worry, both will be full of rabid fans.

Speaking of nostalgic, the two teams play their annual rivalry game in the Cotton Bowl, which is a big concrete nightmare that is nearly original to when it opened. But that is part of the ambience and history of the sport, which I find awesome.

It's been a while since I've been to games at either site, so, rather than get into the amenities in place at either place, I've got a few thoughts on other aspects of your gameday experience.

Last time I went to games at these stadiums, there were zero hotels within reasonable walking distance of either. Now, it appears that there are several options near the stadium in Austin, but still only one near the field in Norman. I'd give the horns the edge there. In fact, if going to Norman, I'd actually consider staying in OKC, instead.

There is not a whole lot of surface parking in Austin. They use a lot of state garages, so there isn't much of a tailgating scene, as such. There is more open space in Norman, but I don't recall seeing much tailgating. Maybe that's changed.

As to parking itself, if you don't score a pass off StubHub, I think they have some shuttle busses in Austin. I'm not sure that they offer much, if anything, in the way of single game public parking. You can find some place to park, for sure, if you are willing to walk far enough, but Austin has some hills and it can be quite a hike.

In Norman, they had public parking around the basketball arena, which is a fair walk south of the stadium, but more of a problem leaving after the game, as about 2/3 of the vehicular traffic is trying to use the same ramp to get into I-35. I always preferred to park in the residential neighborhood west of campus -- closer to the stadium, and easier to get on I-35 post game from there. There are frat houses and an elementary school that sell parking there.

OU is just a bland experience all the way around.
