Godfathers Pizza

Was a weekly staple for us in the 80s. Had some sort of buy a glass pitcher and get free soda refills deal. Was at Vets where I-10 crosses over.

Hardees, meh
Had a jewish roommate for a while when I lived in Dallas. Got to try some jewish deli's, no idea how authentic. Some was good and some was odd to me. Would go back anytime for the sandwiches.

It’s a GE.

No nat gas that I know of. Will ask.

Thanks, all.
I'm not above grocery store 'sushi' but fully aware it's a sad representation of the good stuff though at a fraction of the cost.

Tons of sushi places in Austin now that do omakase with small seatings of 12 or so at a time around counters where you can interact with the chefs. Fantastic quality but sky high prices.

I'm ok somewhere in the middle of those. But, I do draw the line at cream cheese. Count me out.

Clothes Dryer on 208 volts

Using a clothes dryer in a commercial building operating on 208 volts. It's a residential dryer capable of running on 240 or 208 volts. When the dryer was purchased, had no idea that commercial buildings often only have 208 volts.

Construction GC is saying clothes are taking forever to dry because 208 volt is only providing about 75% of the heat that would be generated at 240 volts. Suggested we either deal with long dry times, buy a dryer designed for 208 volt or change the heating element to 208 volt. After a quick search, 208 volt dryers are twice the price of basic residential dryers.

The business requires cleaning/drying towels. With dry times of about 2 hours, the dryer is pretty much running all day. The same load of towels dries in 45 mins at home.

Anyone have experience changing a heating element?...bit of a rabbit hole of online discussions about the topic.

Mi Tierra is downtown though not on the Riverwalk. Great texmex & margs. They also have a mexican bakery the kids would probably enjoy.

Most Riverwalk restaurants are overpriced meh. County Line bbq was a very pleasant surprise. Met up with some out of town family there at their request. It was a lot better than expected. Won't win any awards but it was a solid meal.

A long time ago, there was one in Austin. Can verify it's list worthy.
Did the $10 off a week or 2 ago and was able to change it to $20 off.

Had a school bus driver around 3rd-5th grade (early 80s) who kept a small baseball bat handy. If you were acting up and within reach, your shin or knee was in danger. If out of reach, the next time he stopped the bus he'd get up and go to the back. Good times. Guy had a beard but no mustache. Baw for sure.
I’ve worked with, travelled with and become friends with many white S Africans who now live in the US. Very smart people, very hard working and now very successful in the US. They all got the hell out of SA about 20 years ago. All of them still have family living back home. It’s a beautiful and also barbaric place now. Went there in ‘23 for 3 weeks. Jiburg, safari & Cape Town. Cape Town being the best of the 3 but all worth experiencing.

They all love ‘home’ but also realize it’s turned to hell. They all left because of the rampant violence. One of them is now my best friend. He and his wife were carjacked at knife point in their gated/guarded neighborhood inside their fenced property. That was the last straw for them.

SA is a race to the lowest common denominator. Water & electricity are unreliable in major cities. Crime is rampant. The value of their currency is crap. The educated people have left the country. Death spiral stuff.
Thank you for the heads up!

we have a Vermont Castings going on 10 yrs old. it's been bullet proof. top loading along with front doors. top loading is great feature to have. unless you leave the top open for a couple mins, no smoke comes out since it's already exhausting up the stack.

Been twice, this summer will be the 3rd. We've always gotten a boat that sleeps 12 with add'l quarters for capn & chef. The extra cost split between 6 couples makes it negligible. The capn takes care of mooring details, sail plans, keeps an eye on the weather and communicates with other boats to find out where the crowds are or are not. We normally avoid the crowded spots but still bar hop. The chef provisions everything, cooks, cleans & is first mate.

IMO, the chef's food is better than anything on the island. The first year we tried a bunch of restaurants. The 2nd year we ate all meals aboard. Will do the same this year.

Anegada has a pretty cool excursion run by a guy called Sherwin. A tour and history lesson as he takes you out to float and snorkel on a reef. Dive for conch. Once done he'll show how to open a conch and then make ceviche on his boat. Absolutely delicious and a fun time. He's a great guy,

How about the version number for OS and even devices. iPhone 18 (or whatever the newest is) will eventually be iPhone 100. When does it end?

Mac OS Sonoma 14.8.2...blah blah. The numbers mean nothing and I'm not about to keep up with the names they've added.
A restaurant can always tell late walk-ins...sorry, the kitchen is closed. You're welcome to grab a drink at the bar.

I smoke thighs too and then use the bones and skin to make a smokey broth. Smoke sausage as well. Turns out great.
WB isn't the same as it used to be but nothing else is either.

The single burger is underwhelming. Make it a double w/cheese so the meat ratio is better, won't seem as dry as a single. Bonus points for jalapenos, the only way to go imo.

ETA WB makes burgers for breakfast too, love me a burger in the morning

Thank ya’ll for the suggestions. I have been putting off working with a CPA. Might be time.

Find one that specializes in tax strategies. CPAs are not created equally. Some just want to make sure you pay what you're 'supposed' to. The good ones will offer alternatives and know people who are very familiar with legal loopholes that our beloved congressional representatives codify so they can avoid taxes. These can be quite complex but available to everyone if you have the right advisors.
