Most Tournament Appearances Without a CWS Title

Arguably the hardest Championship to win.
It takes a complete team to win, starting with quality pitching depth. Any, number of times, the “best team” on paper didn’t win.
The teams that have won in the past have a confidence (arrogance) about them that you have to have to win.
The ‘85 Miss St. team was one of the best ever to not win, and it took 36 years for the ‘21 team to break through and win the Title they deserved.
The ‘85 team CWS had 4 prior champions and 2 runner-ups and the ‘21 CWS had 5 prior champions and 1 runner-up. That’s a lot of mojo to overcome,

Why? Fans knew it was coming. The regional format and our lack of pitching depth were not ideal. Injuries killed this team all season and it didn’t stop in regional play as Arkansas lost Holt (backup to injured starter) at 2B in game 1.
It is what it is and that’s how the game goes.

Arkansas had no pitching depth from all the injuries this season. There were four reliable pitchers at the end of the season. In a regional format, that’s no bueno.
The Regional round was going to always be the one hardest for this team and that’s exactly how it played out.

That is the biggest fail of all. FSU has not only made 59 tourney appearances without a title, they have 23 CWS appearances with nary a title in sight. They have more CWS appearances than USC and LSU, who have combined for 18 titles.

Most expected Arkansas to get out of the regional until TCU was announced on a 10 plus game winning streak with extremely hot bats.
That was a huge threat to an Arkansas team that had injuries at multiple positions and the bats were off all year compared to the last two years.
This was a slightly above average Arkansas team with the injuries that is the most in the DVH era.
Arkansas lost too many pitchers to make any decent run and certainly couldn't hit the ball well enough to get back in any large deficit games.
That was a huge threat to an Arkansas team that had injuries at multiple positions and the bats were off all year compared to the last two years.

Cope. We all have injuries, some can overcome it and others can’t. I wish LSU had 4 reliable pitchers like you say Arkansas does. Outside of Skenes we might have 2
