Yep it is justified, and one I am sure Kiffin is well aware of and knows he needs to have. I am sure he will address it with full attention. He wants to win, win big and consistently. His demeanor answering questions after the Bama loss showed me a lot and what helped me support him for the hire.

Yes, it is. I don't like the idea of telling a coach how to run his business but there has to be an understanding that we don't like weak defenses around here.
The good thing is at Auburn Kiphen will be able to get a good DC.

Greygoose and Raberns aren’t online. Jones is though. There’s one downvoter.

Defense is an issue.

But unlike OM, we will pay for a good DC and provide a good salary (sorry meant NIL opportunity) for defensive players.

Yes, and the fact that our 2023 roster as it presently stands would be near the bottom of the SEC for talent.

I look for us to struggle mightily next season no matter who is the HC. Kiff's offensive prowess at least gives us a chance - if he can find a QB and an OL in the portal, that is.

yep, I sure hope everyone is ready to be patient and if the portal can fix it quicker, great.

Wouldn't have desired a younger LK but the older version is a whole different matter.

Him now knowing who to screw around with (and not) and his (2me) now finer grit of wit makes all the difference.

eta: (op's 2rd downvote btw - for bitching)

I don't. If it's Kiffin, I'd bet money that a QB enters the Portal just to join him here regardless of whether or not they were planning on entering otherwise. You bring in a QB with Kiffin's coaching, Judkins, and a further allotment of Portal players and I can see ~8 wins next season as a benchmark.

will probably be along soon to give us the 1st downvote because he's sold on Freezus.

Not sure how you could not want Kiffin but want Freeze.

I wanted Kiffin or Freeze last time and we ended up getting 2 years behind by hiring Harsin

You could make an argument either way, but I’d love to have Kiffin on the plains. I think he would do great things there.

I said this in another thread, but my ONLY concern with him is that when the going gets tough, he bails for greener pastures. But at some point that game runs out. Hopefully he has the chops to build a championship program. I know he can coach.

Once Kiffin does arrive we need to have a nice long thread about his defense.

Rabern’s concern about Kiffin’s defense is justified. Kiffin’s DC is basically running a 3-4 and they’re giving up too much chunk plays. I hope we can steal Durkin back now that Jimbo is toast.

Some of Freeze's best defenses at Ole Miss was when Chris Kiffin was coaching that Dline. He was also their best recruiter, getting Nkemdiche, Tunsil, and Treadwell (All 5 Stars).

He was supposed to have been with Kiffin this season and then abruptly left for the pros again. Maybe Chris just didn’t like the talent.

He won a Sun Belt Championship at FAU. That's his biggest accomplishment.

I don't think he's a bad coach, but I still don't get all adoration being thrown his way. His job history is very unremarkable. He either gets fired, or jumps to another job. Has he been anywhere more than 3 years? Something else bothers me about him too. Yes, he's known for impressive offenses but defense seems to be an after thought. What good is it to have 500-600 yards of total offense if you still lose?

703 yards against Arkansas and was down 42-6 at one point.

I would guess the U-Haul is fully packed.
