Every coach comes with inherent risks

One very important thing I have learned in my 50 years on this earth is that you can NEVER live in FEAR

See this is where you fail. Some risks are far greater than others. You think it's fear that keeps most people from trying to cross a busy interstate on foot, or practicality? Alan Greene ignored the massive red flags when he hired Harsin. No ties to the SEC. No record of very successful recruiting. He just went on his record in the Mountain West. How'd that work out?

I think we all see the defensive issues, but from a development, recruiting, and resource standpoint there’s no reason he can’t have a good defense. Nothing about his offense or management style precludes him from being able to figure out that side of the ball.

I'm still not convinced Lane is coming. This feels like a cart before the horse situation based on a tweet that is questionable.

Kiffin tweeted a response. Him being the flake he is, who really knows, but he did deny the tweet.

I’m not here to discuss Greene or Harsin.

The guy wins. If he is a flake I’m all in for flakes, snowflakes, and frosty flakes. Toss the flakes in my mouth like a woman with a bag of hot dogs.

The Rebels finished the season ranked No. 11 in both the AP and AFCA Coaches Poll; its highest final ranking since 2016.

Kiffin’s second year at Ole Miss was once again highlighted by one of college football’s most exciting offenses. For the second straight season, the Rebels led the SEC in total offense (492.5 ypg). Ole Miss has eclipsed 600 yards of total offense seven times under Kiffin after hitting that mark just 16 times in the program’s history before his arrival.

The Rebel defense ranked as one of the top-five most-improved units in the FBS, allowing 13.6 fewer points per game this season compared to 2020.

quote:

Corral became just the fourth SEC player ever to finish as the NCAA leader in total offense per game (384.9), joining Pat Sullivan (1970), Rex Grossman (2001) and Johnny Manziel (2012). The signal-caller also finished No. 5 in passing yards per game (333.7), No. 7 in passing TDs (29), No. 9 in passing efficiency (177.6) and No. 11 in passing yards per completion (14.5).

The Rebels broke the SEC record for total offense in conference games (562.4 ypg), besting LSU’s mark of 550.0 yards per game set last season during the Tigers’ run to a national title.

Lol at goose saying the defense giving up 14 points was more detrimental than Corral being out for the game. Now that is some dumb shite right there.

9:1 is the kind of alignment Auburn needs.

Sign him up.

You want to comment on his going for it on 4th down?

He's been a head coach at the highest level. At the time, he was the youngest HC in NFL history. He's had a bunch of jobs since then. Name the team he coached that had a really good defense. There's a reason why his only accomplishment is a Sun Belt trophy.

And here I thought Jang was dumb!

It's called "learning from mistakes"! The undeniable truth is:

1. Kiffin has fricked over former employers
2. Kiffin has never been the HC of a team with a better than average defense.

But I guess, in your mind, all that will be different this time.

What's his signature win in the SEC? He's coached two different teams, who'd he beat that made you proclaim him a "winner"?

I don't want him but if they hire him all I can do is hope the money men keep him straight and that we don't offer him anything so outrageous that we can't fire him when we suck in 4 years. I'm not stooping to moral victories (rushing yards) and bragging about beating Arkansas and Kentucky as something to hang the seasons on.

BUT: He is one of THE BEST QB developers I have seen and Auburn is way past due for good, solid QB play
No doubt he's a great offensive coach. He's damn good at developing QBs. Unfortunately for him, the game of football includes defense and special teams.

As shitty as the last few seasons have been for us, are we really just wanting to see competent QB play or do we want to win games?

He made it to the sugar bowl, and going for double digit wins two years in a row. That’s great at Ole Miss without cheating like an amateur, unlike Freeze. He can help Auburn and Auburn can help him.

Who hires coaches for this reason? That’s just weird.

Words to my ears:

I just don't sense that Hugh Freeze is in this thing. I really thought he'd emerge as the consensus No. 2 behind Kiffin, but that hasn't happened. I think there's a tier of second-choice guys and I honestly don't think Freeze is in there.

Liberty is great for Freeze.
