I will say this about BoB. I don't know a whole lot about him, but I do know that his only stop in college as a head coach he won the Bear Bryant Award and BIG X COTY. And he won it in the absolute worst time in Penn St history of trying to win shite.

Yes he's an average NFL coach and a horrible NFL GM, but, I'm pretty confident in saying, he's probably a better pure football coach than GM at this moment in their careers. Basing that only on the fact of what he did at PSU and I KNOW NFL teams aren't banging on Malzahn's door.

Uhh, you realize what he took over at Penn St?

Not saying he didn't jump, but ANYONE would have jumped at ANY opportunity to get out of that. He did a fantastic job at PSU considering what he walked into.

Coach G - just ride out Saban and hopefully stack talent

Idk what makes you think RG is gonna "stack talent". If that's the route we are going, just promote Twill. He seems to be the only one that young guys get excited about.

And if we get to that level, I would cheer T will above any coach on this staff.

Head coaches don't make rap videos. I love T-Will as much as the next person but he's not ready to be a DC much less a head coach. Steele helps Coach T-Will coach. He's a young coach and will get better. Even under training from Coach Steele went down, say got sick from the rona... Crime Dog would take over play calling.

And yes I think Coach G would stack the staff with recruiters and get out of the way. His demeanor is also the epitome of AU. Hard work, bust that arse, do it right everytime, no excuses. Garner has also been the assist/associate head coach at 2 separate schools. So the head coaches respect him enough to be second in command.

Not sure how Bill Obrien is an upgrade over Gus

There is a reason Obrien is without a job right now.

With what attitude you talking about?

Also didn't even know but more on Jeff Grimes. Someone will snatch him up soon. His BYU offense through 3 games leads the nation in points per game and yards per game and I think time of possession. They are 3-0 on the season

@ Navy 55-3
vs Troy 48-7
vs La Tech 45-14

dang, guess Saban and Kirby aren't worth hiring then

Kirby and Saban beat Gus. Christobol didn't. He really hasn't beaten anyone he shouldn't. Sounds familiar.

I think Matt Campbell would be a better choice more so than anyone on this thread has mentioned. He has done a lot with that program considering who he has to face in recruiting and the area that ISU is in. Tougher than Minnesota in my opinion as he has the big10 to contend with and Iowa.

There’s also a reason he is/was in the NFL

Adam Gase is an NFL HC. I could go on, but that proves my point.

Gase or most any other NFL coach would coach circles around Gus.

Gase has been an absolute loser as a HC, but he has also always had terrible teams (Dolphins & Jets) with terrible rosters.

He has proven himself as an OC in the league.

Yeah, a guy that won 4 NFL division titles in 6 seasons isn't an upgrade from Gus.

He plays in a division with the Jags, Titans and Colts.

The fact that he only went 52-48 against those teams over the past 6 years with a great D + franchise caliber QB is absolutely insane.

I want someone who understands what it takes to win in the SEC. I want someone who understands the dirty recruiting we face and figures out how to pull in the 4/5* and elite recruits to be competitive with the top of the SEC. I want someone who has coaching pedigree and relationships and can bring in the best coaches. I want someone who wants to win and can reprrsent AU. Who is that person? It’s not and never has been Gus.

So now we dont want to run a clean program, we want to go back to cheating just to win?

I kid

I honestly think our admins love Gus and how our program runs. We rake in money and don't have the multiple campuses to support like UA/TAMU. There is no financial reason to change coaches.

Especially with that buyout still staring at us in the face.

As for O'brien...Yuk.

What we are recycling again is there IS no great HC out there or OC/DC that we know will win better than what we have now.

But sometimes, when you can't even maintain .500 avg of 2/3 of the better teams in your conference, then change is needed to try to correct at least that.

These records against LSU and GA are monumental failures and is keeping us from having a chance at a top 10 finish and a playoff berth.

He went 12-2 in his second season and beat Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl

Kirby and Saban play Gus every year. Christobal played him once, and yeah, lost, but also kicked the snot out of us for three quarters and forced us to Auburn Jesus the end of the game

Regarding the buyout, it has to be approved on many levels. Donors, board, pres, etc. His buyout wasn't slipped by anyone and they all had to approve. IMO, it is outrageous because they knew losing games would make the fanbase hate Gus and they wanted to protect him.

WHo is they?

And why would they want to protect him? That puts them in a precarious position, if Gus fails.
