Yep. Can't help but feel like there's more to the story than Bruce suddenly wanting to retire right before the season

Pretty obvious watching this team Bruce didn't want to tarnish his AU tenure so he peaced out. He said it himself that he wanted to go out on top. This team is young and plays young. 9 seed incoming

But ya just giving the keys to Steven is dumb AF after Bruce turned us into a blue blood.

A 9 seed isnt that bad of a first year...with this group.

I hope you're right.

If any doesn't like Steven's stoic coaching effort I thought Silverfield for Memphis stood like a bump on a log the whole first half that I watched.

The fatherly thing to do then is let your son look like a shitty coach?

1. Defense needs to massively improve
2. 20-25% from 3 needs to improve.
3. We will know whether this team has that dog in them before Christmas.

I did see him coaching more this last game than the B-C game. We will have some growing pains with him as he learns to be the head man. I saw more intensity on D last game. I do think if we give Steven enough time, he will be a good HC. I am sure Bruce is helping him every way he can too.

Sumrall is making his case.

I'm not sure that a close victory over Memphis makes the case for the Auburn job. Hiring Sumrall is a gamble. He has had success in his head coaching jobs but neither of those positions is comparable to what he would face as head coach at Auburn. I think he has potential but am not sure the potential rewards balance out the potential risks.

there are no HC candidates out there that aren’t a gamble

leaning towards Brohm (if he’s truly interested) then either Sumrall or Golesh as they are the gambles with the best upsides

i wouldnt object to Dilly but i truly believe he isn’t leaving AZ St

Some are riskier than others. There is too much at stake to take careless chances

My wishlist
1. Lanning
2. Brohm
3. Dilly
4. Durkin (could move way up the list depending on performance in the next 3 games)

The real question is whether Durkin would be enthusiastic about getting passed over for the HC role.

With any kind of raise (recognition), I believe the odds would be very good that he stays.

Right now, obviously, he's not a candidate for any big time head coaching job.

From all accounts, he really likes Auburn.

If Auburn starts winning, he will definitely get more exposure that could lead to a big head coaching job.

Additionally, staying would lead to great connections on the offensive side of the ball.

I would love to see what Brohm could do with our receiver core. His offense with a Durkin defense? Nasty!

But, he’s a Louisville guy. Would he leave?

I say.........throw out a number that makes him say "o.k." (of course it's not my money, but what the hell?)

Has Durkin even hinted at wanting the HC job? I mean, he might not even want that much responsibility again and may be perfectly fine with being only a DC. I get making him the interim, due to experience, but he may have just said ok, i'll do the interim and want to go back to DC after the season.

He was setting g beside Cohen in the initial presser when Cohen said he would be considered for the HC. So I assume they talked about it.

When I posted around halftime his offense was rolling and his QB was something like 16/17 for ~200 and 2 or 3 TD’s. Second half they went into a shell.
