Golesh and Auburn are talking extensively today with the belief that unless Lane stays at Ole Miss and/or Florida pulls their offer, Sumrall is not happening The belief is that Golesh wants to bring Tennessee’s current offensive coordinator/QB coach Joey Halzle in as his OC/QB coach should he take a P4 job. Halzle and Golesh worked together at Tennessee and UCF

I do love Tennessee’s offense…

We just need a coach who can hire competent staff

Apparently the good ole boy network won't allow that.

Thought crossed my mind. Would be hilarious. But Durkin won’t pass up our HC job to be someone else’s DC.

Wants to hire Halzle as OC, friends with Durkin, boosters support it, announcement timeline unchanged.

I mean, BS internet rumor or not, this would be pretty ideal considering the shite show going on. While Heupel is the primary play caller there, Halzle is a good QB coach and has been his OC last three years, he and Golesh would transition seamlessly with the offense.

I personally am not a fan of wearing them but I don’t have anything against them. I just prefer the traditional hat.

If Golesh somehow falls into our lap, then a prayer has been answered. Durkin as HC would set the program back even further.

The guy that posted this on Reddit just took it all back. Said his sources walked back/deleted tweets, etc.

Why would this be luck? It's the exact opposite - we were very measured in our pursuit of Sumrall, we are checking major boxes.

Auburn steady rearranging the deck chairs on the titanic. Until Auburn gets desperate enough that they open up the checkbook and cede autonomy of the coaching staff to the incoming coach, absolutely nothing will change. Coach Merkin can find another job somewhere.

Exactly. If he's successful, he can wear a stovepipe hat as far as I'm concerned.
