This is 100% correct. Of course I would rather have Kiffin.

Let them have Kiffin. Go get Kliff Kingsbury that is the mirror image.

I would prefer Kiffin or if I had a choice it would be Lanning. Those 2 are pipe dreams so give me Sumrall.

Is our Job More Attractive than Florida or LSU to Lane?
Thats what it will come down to, the better situation.

I'm not sure why Lane would leave Ole Miss for any of those 3 jobs.

Florida is less stress than LSU. LSU just fired their coach after losing to the #3 team. I get there was frustration to that point, but damn.

He isn't. He's ridden 2 waves to "success." First was the Johnny Manziel wave, then the Sean McVay (everyone wanting to hire hip young dudes) wave.
Sumrall and Lashlee have both achieved some success without a generational talent who almost literally anyone could have had success with.
Kiffin is still choice 1 (for literally everyone). Kingsbury should not be on the board.

Have we discussed DJ taking the reins?

Defensive coaches usually have the most consistency. Or at least it seems that way to me. He’s also been an HC before, even though that didn’t end up well in the end.

Yeah true, if you want to leave out the whole part about his offenses putting up huge numbers at Texas Tech for years leading to an NFL HC job.

Yes and also discussed that we’d be firing up the HC search board again in 2 seasons if that were to happen.

Yea, he just seems like one of those guys that is best as a coordinator.

Are we stuck unless Kentucky or Mercer beat us?

DJ isn't my first choice, but I don't know why anyone would take that stance - (he's a best as coordinator guy). He had a not-terrible performance as HC at Maryland. He's a tough, energetic, disciplined coordinator for a big program. He strikes me as someone who could navigate the politics reasonably well, and he's far, far, far more professional than Hugh in every respect.
Which is saying something since half the country (erroneously) thinks he was directly involved in a player death.

It was pretty damn bad.
In his first season they won 6 games, but they all came against teams that finished with losing records. His only win against a team with a winning record came in year 2 against a Texas team that finished 7-6.
Pretty much every loss in his tenure was a blowout. With his defense getting absolutely arse-blasted routinely.
He is either considered unhireable, or absolutely nobody was impressed by his performance at Maryland because there has been plenty of opportunity for someone to hire him again, and there is no interest. His name isn't even popping up this cycle even with all of these openings even though his defense is balling. That kind of says a lot. Why is VTech not interested? Oklahoma State?

Because I think his best fit as a coach is a coordinator

Agree to disagree. I don't think 10-15 is not terrible with a clear downgrade in play from year 1 to year 2, even if we take into account it is just Maryland.
I think he is a very good DC. I just am of the opinion that is a more natural fit for him and where he is at his best.
