Problem with Franklin is he would probably tell our PTB to shove it. He’s definitely not a “yes man”

Zero chance we hire someone we can’t control.

My bets would be on Dilly or Lashlee. Would personally rather have Summerall

Franklin can't hold Tubs jock when it came playing games against good teams. Franklin has just feasted on crappy teams in the big ten while having a huge talent advantage. Franklin is 15-31 against the top 25 at PSU, Tubs was 17-17 (take away his 1-4 record with a no talent team in 1999 and Tubs was 16-13 against the top 25).

Now granted, he'd be an improvement over the past decade of Auburn football, but signing an older guy in the downslope of his career to a long term contract is a losing proposition.

Gus/Freeze 2.0 and 3.0. We should absolutely hire Sumrall over those two.

Franklin is not perfect, but PSU's boosters are ours on speed. He knows how to handle personalities

Dream staff -

James Franklin, Jerry Nuehiesel, and somehow pay a lot of money to get John Sumrall to be DC (he was born in Alabama, coached at Troy and knows how to run a program from Neil Brown, and Trey Biddy thinks he is a "dog")

I don't see Dilly leaving his alma mater, he's honestly in a perfect spot for him given that he went to high school in Scottsdale.

Lashlee I can see, but I hope not as I'm sick of Gus/Freeze type offenses.

Like you I'd prefer Sumrall over him.

Jon Sumrall is my first call

Durkin's D would have really benefited from having an offense holding up the other end.

I am good with Kiffin, Franklin, or Sumrall. Let's get to it.

Sumrall isn’t going back to a coordinator, he will be a P4 head coach next year

Why are people more in love with Sumrall than Golesh? USF looks more impressive than Tulane.

Yes they are. In fact they have been self medicating with bourbon since 6:00 PM yesterday. We all have been after watching the shite show that is Auburn football.

Because you have folks on here that want a D minded coach. Battered fan syndrome. Just get the best coach. I like Golesh and Sumerall.

His job was saved when Vanderbilt hired Jerry Kill and Deigo Pavia transferred in.

Hard no for me.

Clark Lea is Gene Chizik. Take away Jerry Kill from Vanderbilt, take away Gus Malzahn from Auburn - what do you get...

If Freeze had gone out and got Pavia we would probably be sitting here praising Freeze for what a great coach he is, and much like Chiz when Cam left, reality would slap us in the face.

Hard no on Lea. Knowing Auburn, they will go with the lowest hanging fruit - Rhett Lashlee. It would be nice to enjoy a football season again, but the combination of Auburn's losing streak and NIL and conference realignment, Saturday's these days are vastly different than the first 45 years or so of my life.
