Auburn MBB twitter posted a video of Chaney doing his vertical test and he maxed out the vertical challenger.

I will probably get reamed here for saying this, but I feel more optimistic about the football program than basketball at this point. We seem to have hit a sort of a plateau in recruiting and results. Considering how well the rookie seasons of Jabari and Kessler turned out, it was a miss to not have advanced further last year. But BB is one where things can be quickly turned around due to the small roster, so hopefully BP and his team are going through some serious introspection to take the next step.

I’m sure Bruce is taking some time for himself with the loss of his father. I just wish there was more Bb news.

I actually think next year’s team has the potential to be the best since 2019. After that it’s going to be rough because we aren’t recruiting high school big men successfully.

Eh we are at a level of sustained success in basketball we haven’t seen in football since the Dye 80’s. I’d be thrilled if football could get to this point.

2019 and this upcoming team didn’t have any great big men we recruited from high school.

he got up, but he had a running start. Usually a vert is measured standing.

This is basically what I tried to say a week or so ago after Bidunga. I think this year tells a lot about if this transfer strategy will work long term.

Did we not just win a conference championship year before last. If we have plateaued then we are at the right spot.

Not in basketball. They set the challenger to the rim height and then guys jump from there. In basketball it’s more important how high you can jump compared to everyone else than just your height.

I mean we're coming off of a 5-7 season in football and an NCAA Tourney appearance one year after a SEC Championship. I guess you could use the word excited maybe, but I don't see how you're more optimistic.

Bruce Pearl went on Rothstein podcast this morning:

-Denver Jones has been arguably our best player this summer
-Aden and Tre could see some time together but only if our 2's and 3's aren't getting it done. Tre would be the 1 in this scenario
-Aden's shotmaking ability is special
-Could be the best offensive team he has had at Auburn. Defensive toughness and rebounding will have to develop much more

Philon officially cut us out of his recruitment. He has pretty much decided he wants to be a point guard and that just can’t happen at AU for him.

Just hope he doesn’t go to Bama.

Speaking of Bama, I’m just not impressed with their roster this year. No true 1 on their roster and I don’t like their 4’s and 5’s a whole lot. Grant Nelson was obviously a sexy portal recruit but as we’ve discussed here he might just be a highlight darling. Broome owned him in the G League camp games by the way. They have some scorers but without a true 1 I wonder about their consistency.

They will be solid again, but they won't be able to make up for what Miller did.

We will see how Philon does outside of AL. AL bball just seems weak.

Bball twitter page put up a video of Denver, it's only practice and from the same spot everytime but stroking 21 in a row is still impressive. Looking forward to the season.
