Danny Kanell Says Win Over LSU Could Launch Trinidad Chambliss Into Heisman Race

CBS Sports analyst Danny Kanell believes Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss could make a major move in the Heisman Trophy race with a win over LSU on Saturday.

Chambliss, who finished eighth in Heisman voting last season, will lead Ole Miss against Lane Kiffin and the Tigers in a top-10 matchup in Oxford.

Kanell called Chambliss “the most dynamic quarterback in the country” and said the national spotlight surrounding Kiffin’s return to Ole Miss gives the Rebels quarterback a huge opportunity.

“We look for moments, we look for opportunities,” Kanell said on CBS Sports HQ. “The whole entire country is going to be watching this game because they hate Lane Kiffin, and they want to see Trinidad Chambliss win.”

Kanell added that LSU’s dominant start to the season has only raised the stakes.

“Everybody thinks they’re a super team because of what they did to Clemson,” Kanell said. “If he’s able to knock them off, I think he would jump possibly to the top of the Heisman leaderboard.”

LSU and Ole Miss will meet Saturday night in Oxford at 6:30 pm CT on ABC.
