Cooper will be the great what-if PG for us…. Better circumstances and cast around him (so basically any year immediately before or after him) and who knows what we could’ve accomplished.

Idk, J’Von knew his place and elevated his teammates.

ETA: and J’Von was actually clutch

Don't even think it's particularly close. You're criticizing WG for being a higher usage player.. which we needed him to be. He's been the only true playmaker on the team for the last 2 years. Only guy who could create anything off the dribble. Did he take some bad shots? Sure. But a lot of that is just the nature of being the only late clock option.

I think WG may have played a lesser role willingly a little more if he played alongside Harper, Brown, Doughty, Okoro but who knows? Regardless, he was the straw the stirred the drink for this AU team most of the time and was clutch closing out games at the line for us 8-10 times over the last couple of years.

Bo and Wen isn't a terrible comparison but imo Bo is a much better player and got much more flack despite neither having great supporting casts their final years.

I don't see the need to crap on either one as it seemed like they both put it all out there for Auburn in less than ideal circumstances.

Well Bruce is trying to give him that chance but doesn’t seem too interested

Yeah I agree with this.

I think it's more of Aden's footsteps but maybe so. Either way it would be hard to go from being the man to then becoming more of a role player at the college level. Not much was asked of Jvon at all his first year and then year 2 he was a pretty high usage player alongside another ball handling guard

Wendell transferring is the best news this program could’ve gotten. He was a major liability. His three point percentage was an anemic 29% this year. He almost never make a clutch basket. And he wasn’t much of a creator on offense.

I'm sorry, I have to disagree with this.

I did not even have to check who posted that.

Green was not a great player but he was not bad either. He was an above average scorer and teammate. He was probably a liability in the loose sense that he was the best that we had to take the last shot however not good enough, but then again he was still the best that we had. He was good enough to when he was playing well we probably win. Who else was our proven scorer? Possibly KD? Do we want that erratic fella with the ball late in the game? Do we want Flanigan or J-Wil with the ball late in the game? Maybe Flanigan but I dont see him as an upgrade over Greene. J-Will is already a deer in headlights at the point of the game. I still remember when J-Will cost us a game last year, just because he did not box out an opponent that was shooting free throws. The offense should never get the rebound when the defense is already at the inside position. Jasper barely hit the 10 point mark one time all season long. Now there is a liability if you want to call them out. Bruce still got us to the tournament, however we were limited and that was easy to see.

A lot of fans need to remember that WG still chose to play for Auburn even if they are poorly rated. He wanted to win, and hated to lose. That is good enough for me at the end of the day. Being poorly rated is just another reason to cut the guy some slack. And we had plenty of those on our roster, for some reason or another.

I've dropped the whole Bo Nix stuff for a while now but when fans act like they deserve a better player than they are getting then they have lost their marbles. None of us deserve anything. If we deserved a better team then WG is not the first place to be turning things upside down. Jaylin, Zep, Flanigan, KD, Bruce, Traore, Westry, and whole bunch of folks underperformed this year.

Now that WG is gone it is time to replace him. I think Aden is PG 1, but I hope we are after a transfer as well. I am surprised the roster is getting scrapped for a new one at this point in Bruce's career, but it sounds like he is over the developmental project stuff, and just wants to stick with the mercenary players for hire since that is where everyone else is headed. It is change which also means uncertainty.

I also still think the fans loved Greene. There was obviously chatter among the fanatics (like here) speuculating everything, but it was unneccessary for someone to write that insider piece that ended up on twitter and in front of the mom. I dont think that piece reflected the Auburn fanbase at all. I was legit hoping to keep Greene, and add a few pieces and then run it back. I will let you know when the fanbase is acting like a bitch.

I’m a little more nervous about next year suddenly. I was hoping to bring 3 of our big 4 back. Wanted one of them to leave (any of them honestly) just for the sake of needing some fresh faces around but now it seems like 2 of the 4 is best case

If Wendell were 3-4 inches taller he’d have been a killer at the 2.

Yea, probably the best comparison between Bo and Wen is that they are both going to make their haters realize they need to be careful what they wish for.

Why is everyone up in arms on either side the players or the coaches. The players wanted pay for play and coaches have to justify what the players get. We will have roster turnover every year. Some feelings will get hurt on each side.

As long as they wear orange and blue I will support them. If they don’t make an arse of themselves I will support them when they leave. I don’t blame Wen for his dad’s tweet. Wen played hard for us and I will give him that respect. However this team, this roster, regardless of who it was/is needed turnover and however those conversations were done that is Bruce’s responsibility. Seems he’s handled himself just fine and at the end of the day that’s all that matters. What the players do for their scholarships and NIL and how Bruce manages the roster.

I say all that to say this is not the first and it won’t be the last in the era of college basketball free agency.

Didn’t read your book except for scanning to this line and laughing.

The dude missed more game winning/tying shots this year than I can count. He is anti-clutch.
