One of the top melts of Auburn board history.

I have not quite sorted through all of them this morning but I will. No way I would miss it.

I can’t figure out what is better. The fact that you don’t understand why we lose to Georgia right now or the fact that some of you want to direct your anger at me.

But continue on. Had a great day yesterday myself. 34th wedding anniversary with Ms Lanier. Now I get to read your melts this morning. I love you guys.

I think we all understand this perfectly well. It took some a while to come around but I think everybody is on board now.

No melt here - I'm enjoying the bus going empty.

OK, if you would can you explain this to me (please):

Gus is 3 of 7 versus Alabama. Yet when it comes to Georgia he's 2 of 9. Which is 42.8 percent compared to 22.2.

So is Georgia twice as good as Alabama?

Congratulations.... and remember the 35th celebration involves coral.

Though those numbers are double, understand that the difference is just one game either way. That could have happened with either team.

The reason we are losing to them, other than we seem to have a block in Athens, is they are a better team right now. And like it or not, a better program. They have out recruited us pretty much for any player they wanted and have had locked down the state of Georgia.

The talent level between UGA and Auburn is huge. The difference in depth is huge. This is not the same UGA program of the 80's, 90,s and 2000's where Auburn and UGA was always pretty much at the same level. They are at a higher level. You just dont want to see that or admit it.

Now, how can Auburn get to the level that UGA is at right now? I dont know but #1, its obvious our current leadership cant get us there and #2, I dont think it is possible. The two schools do not face the same challenges from year to year.

I had a pretty good idea the game was not be close (I actually thought we would do a little better), but you were all so convinced that it would be a easy victory there was not changing some of your minds.

I give you guys credit though, nobody melts like the Auburn board. Not even LSU. I did before but once Gus decided to change the offense away from what he knew how to do to this type of offense, I just did not have the confidence that he would ever be able to make us elite on a consistent basis.

No, it’s not huge. They’ve had a better haul the last few years, but we’re not on a Vandy level recruits. It’s pretty clear it’s poor coaching.

This is where I don’t understand your defense of Gus. I agree too that he has gotten away from what worked best for him and you still want to keep him, even though he’s shown no intention of going back to it, and other major programs adapt and AU is getting left behind.

It absolutely is. They have 5* guys at every single position group outside of QB. Every single level from the backfield, WR, OL, DL, LB, and DB.

Nope

I was overly optimistic of a double overtime win at best.

Gus had already convinced me when headed east he's usually no bueno. Think SC (Clemson) and Tampa.
(even in eastern bowl games).

I have never changed my opinion on the offense and I never will with him running it. He needs the running QB and its very obvious. And its not about me "wanting Auburn to keep him" This is where a lot of you make your own connections. I have said that they should have gotten rid of him last year due to the fanbase. Not so much that I think they will make some grand slam hire to do better but just for continuity. The fan base obviously is done with him unless he wins every game which wont happen. So for the sake of the program, they should just do the inedible and replace him. Not that they are going to do any better because they probably wont. His job is not going to be sought after by a lot of top tier coaches. Like it or not

Ive always said that he has given us some of the best moments in Auburn history and I stick to that. I dont just look at the bad. And I also try to understand why things happen. Not just that they do.

And if some of you dont think UGA's talent level is higher than Auburns, you are just kidding yourself. It is waaaaaaay better. At every single position.

I go back and forth on the big picture for Auburn. On paper, it certainly seems like we have built in disadvantages when compared with our main rivals. We aren’t the flagship state school and our state doesn’t have the native talent of a Louisiana, Georgia, or Florida.

At the same time, though, I think there is enough talent available for Auburn to compete. Yesterday was the worst I can remember going back to the 2009 Alabama game or 2012. Our O-line and D-lines were FCS level yesterday. It wasn’t that we played “bad” yesterday, even though we did. We were just manhandled and couldn’t do anything about it - on either side of the ball.

We all trust 247 as the standard and use the composite rankings as the standard as well.

247 Team Talent has UGA at #1 in the country.
247 Team Talent has AU at #13 in the country.

So 13 spot difference... you jump down 13 spots from AU and you have...

247 Team Talent has Arkansas at #26 in the country.

Just an example of the talent difference.

That’s no excuse it all falls on the head coach and as I’ve said I like Gus heck I like his offense but Jimmy’s and Joe’s beat X and O’s. So like I’ve previously said ‘21is the year he at least must win the west to keep his job. So every thread doesn’t need to be a but Gus thread. He is here a minimum of through next year.

But will caution everyone Gus has recruited as well as any coach at AU other then coach Dye. The problem is UGA, Bama, and LSU are on a completely different level. So be careful what you wish for.

Isn’t Clemson the “non state” school in poor South Carolina?

You think USCe is comparable to Bama Texas Ohio State UGA etc? If so not sure what to tell you. Clemson is just now on a run they have never had before. What happened good recruiting? Dirty deeds? IDK because I don’t care about Clemson

Because the people leading their program have built a better program than the people leading ours.

I mean Gus has struggled against every team with comparable or better talent. Gus is not elevating the program. I think many coaches could come to Auburn and beat the Mississippi schools, Arkansas, and A&M. That's literally all he has to do to get to 4-4 in the conference.

And its not just the talent level. Thats bullshite lol. Our offense played worse against Georgia than Arkansas did.

Meh. We have a 5 star QB. He's been totally average at best against every team with equal talent. We don't have Georgias talent at other positions, but we have a borderline 5 star RB, multiple 4 star WRs, a defense with multiple 4 and 5 stars.

Georgia does outalent us, but not to the level that was on display Saturday. If Georgia had a better QB that would have probably been at least a 30 point loss.

You are not objective about Gus. It's fine that you like him, but the points you make in his defense are very weak and representative of a mindset that Auburn should be happy being an 8-5/9-4 program. You act like we want undefeated seasons every year but we don't. We just want to be consistently competitive with our rivals and we aren't
