Watch the whole interview linked below. Zelensky comes after Vance at 43:30. That was a bad miscalculation.
Vance responds and turns the heat up. Then he and Zelensky go at it for a moment.
Trump gets set off when Zelensky says that the US “will feel it” if the conflict isn’t resolved.
I think the whole thing boils down to a terrible idea to try and put Vance on the spot. Then it spiraled down from there because of the way Zelensky phrased some things - probably because of the language barrier.
I think Zelensky will come back with his hat in his hand to put this back together.

Second all the comments on South Dakota.
Went this year for the first time. Connected with a landowner and hunted with my dog and one other. It was incredible. The amount of birds we saw was crazy. All wild.

I just read a report (because of this thread) and in 1962 135,000 hunters harvested 4 million quail in Georgia (estimated) and by 2019 13,000 hunters harvested 130,000 birds but 117,000 of those were pen raised birds. That is a depressing decline.
Can confirm. I'm from SW GA - the mecca of quail hunting. My grandad and his generation ALL had bird dogs. Quail hunting was just the thing everybody did on the weekends because they were so plentiful.
I've never shot a wild quail.
Pretty depressing.

This is not some new "signal". Our economy is built on consumption driven by debt. Not saying there isn't inherent risk in this - there definitely is - but its been this way for a long, long time.

Everything is so dang dramatic. How about he was an old school coach that didn't want to play the new recruiting game? You can't win without playing that game now. Pretty simple. Can't say I blame him honestly but it is what he signed up for.

It boggles my mind how anyone cannot see Hamas is a terrorist organization.
It is blind hatred and its the scariest part of this.
Almost the entire ME has come out in support of Hamas. Did you see what Erdogan said? And they are a freaking NATO member.
No amount of facts or truth about Hamas' brutality will change their minds. They have a deep, deep hatred for Jews with an ideology that justifies and encourages it. Scary stuff.
We aren't going to "fix" them with truth. Not saying this is what you are proposing, but this event has exposed (if there were any doubt) for who they are.

These are the types of things that make me legitimately nervous. This whole event - with the hospital bombing being the perfect example - is exposing just how much hate and confirmation bias is present. No amount of truth will change their minds. And that entire area is a powder keg of hate towards Israel.

What does this look like hypothetically, with respect to territory controlled?
Is it worth ceasefire and NATO+EU membership with current territory, but thousands more dead Russians? Do they need to push Russia back completely in the East, but leave Crimea? If so, does their surrounding postwar allow them to basically starve out the Russians in Crimea if the land bridge is totally destroyed prior to ceasefire?
Just curious on opinions.
I think this is the million dollar question. Not sure how you can agree to any ceasefire if you are Ukraine while Putin is in power. All that will do is allow him to restock and attack at some other time. He's already shown his cards.

The Russian leadership is likely pursuing a long-term operation where they bank that Russia's advantages in population and resources will eventually exhaust Ukraine.
This is what Stephen Kotkin said on his most recent Hoover Institute interview. It’s turned into a war of attrition. Which makes things more dangerous, in my opinion.
The only way Ukraine can sustain is if we continue to support them and it’s getting to the point where our stocks are going to take a while to replenish. And we don’t have the budget to quickly replenish them given the current debt levels and we blew our wad during Covid.
On the other side, Russia can’t sustain either, which could bring China into the fold. That brings us all closer to an actual war with each other.

Kotkin on Uncommon Knowledge most recent discussion. This more about the end game of what success for Ukraine should look like
I watched this one the other day. I really like Kotkin and thought he did a good job here. But, I wish he would address his mistake of predicting that Russia would NOT invade Ukraine. He lost some credibility in my eyes from that and has never (to my knowledge) really admitted his mistake.

I got some Danner lace ups like these and they are super comfortable and warm. If I can be slightly critical of them, the tread on the sole wore down pretty quick, but I've been wearing them for everything in the cold. I weld, cut trail, hunt, hike and everything in them.
I just bought a pair of these yesterday and really like them so far. Super comfortable.

If you want to play it safe, invest in funds that track different indices. For example, switch your SP 500 fund for a Russell 1000 fund. Both are large cap indices and will perform pretty much the same.

so really the concern is recruiting.
I think in the new era of NIL, a pure recruiter is going to be less important than in years past. It's going to be more important to have the full confidence of the boosters and big money folks to fund the NIL coffers. Not saying knowing how to recruit won't be important, just that it will look different under NIL.
