Anyone else struggling with the idea that the NCAA would grant his waiver at Auburn?

Yes

But for him to leave Gtown like that giving up a clear shot to the league they must of done something bad to the baw

I'm more worried about Penny and his bag of tricks than I am the waiver

Just read a couple articles about Cardwell and how he had to sit out his senior year of high-school that make me pretty excited about the kid. Sounds like he could be a true Auburn man.

As a Hoya fan, I think the root is McClung's NBA development was getting Bryce Brown'd. His best fit in GTown's PG ball dominant /primary facilitator offense is as off ball shooter. As a 6'2 G though, NBA wants to see him do more

I think AU has an attractive pitch for him to play the Doughty type role.

I know Ewing went on National TV and said McClung wouldn’t be going to the draft and would be returning.

McClung immediately came out and said he never said anything to Ewing about his intentions. So obviously there was some dysfunction there

He's a late 1st or second rounder if he sticks at Gtown. I can't imagine him transferring to improve a few spots. Way more risk than reward.

Regardless of reason, I just hope we get him and he scores 20ppg

My feelings about Memphis also not being in his top five:

Yup! Supposedly the G League has waved their age restriction for the select squad to allow him to play.

Hate to burst bubbles here but most sources connected to AU says little to no shot of him ending up at AU.

Got bored and watched highlights of the final four run. I hope we are able to snag McClung. I miss being faster and better at shooting than the other team.

I wouldn’t be so sure of that. I think he could make improvements in shooting just as others have done under Coach Pearl’s tutelage.

Agreed. Plus he gets to the FT line pretty well and actually makes it when he gets there.

I think he would do well in Bruce's system with how much freedom he would have.

We shot 30.6% as a team and his ~33% would be like 3rd on the team of primary players last season ...

Moving forward though, McClung shot 80% FT two straight seasons and his form looks fine. I know NBA draft scouts believe that would let someone develop into a 3FG shooter. No reason to believe with work he'd be a 35% shooter similar to Samir

Pearl’s Tutelage

Hate to burst bubbles but ummm not sure how to say this... ummm {rifleman} name to not mention maybe had a lot more shooting development for the players then most fans probably realize.

Granted Bruce’s system is tailor made for quick PG and light em up 2 guards and stretch 4s with 3 point shooting a little slashing and jump shots from the 3. But everyone but Wiley’s FT shooting went to shite when that shithead coach not to be named left. There is absolutely no reason an in shape dependable defender Purifoy shouldn’t have been a boardline draftee. Stroke was pure fire until....

Just sayin’

Purifoy prior seasons form

| ——-> goal this way

Senior season form

/ ——-> goal this way
|

Resulting in flat front rim shots. He naturally shoots a flat ball but was extremely flat this season

And never got corrected the entire season.

I’ve seen that JT Thor, Bryce Brown, Harper, Kai Sotto, and others have trained under Person this offseason. Person knows his shite and still a big loss.

Fwiw...Hansen apparently no longer thinks we lead for McClung. He thinks top 3 will be Wake Forest, Texas Tech, and Memphis.

Wake Forest mod also thinks WF will be included in top 3.

We were a better shooting team in years prior to this one because Bryce and Harper were natural gunners.

I watched Bryce in a dazzling shooting performance as a rising HS senior at Auburn elite camp. It was one of the best shooting performances I've ever seen. He always had it as did Jared.

Rifleman's tutelage was always overrated. He didn't do near as much hands on shooting training as people seem to think.
