Not really sure his reasoning in dragging schools along with the recruitment process. He could've just played the G-League against Australia if negotiation was his motivation.

Good for him and I hope it works out. I won't criticize his decision, but tome personally the video he put out yesterday teasing 2 fan bases knowing he had no intent to sign with them was a little tacky.

Anyone know what the plans are for us at the 2 now... Grad transfer?

Just typical of this all eyes on me generation, he'll fit in perfect in the nba.

Exposure seems like a big part of the negotiation.

CBB may not officially pay but the exposure for brand building is huge for guys like Green. It’s something that RJ Hampton didn’t really receive.

Green didn’t just get 500K. He’s being promised a southern cal team essentially assembled for him. And he can go ahead and tap into sponsorship deals.

I think there’s a scenario where he doesn’t go pro if he doesn’t get all of that

Maybe, but Silver has basically said he wanted to keep prospects here and for them not to go overseas. I just don't see where it was G-League vs CBB as opposed to G-League vs Foreign leagues in the NBA's eyes.

I mean Cambridge was literally on IG live minutes before his announcement how Jalen told em the last 3 months he was gonna dunk on em every practice then pulled this. Kinda hinted Bruce wasn’t happy then Turbo flat out said yeah coach hit me and let me know he wasn’t comin couple days ago and they both just kinda shook their head and rolled eyes.

G league will also provide Jalen with a full ride scholarship. Would love to be a fly on the wall during this pandemic to hear college coaches’ pitch to go to college. “We got fans, well actually we may not have that either. Want a slice of my wife’s homemade apple pie?”

I thought it was really interesting that he told Yahoo, that had he gone to college he was picking Memphis.

So maybe we were going to lose him anyway. Better this way.

ANd I can't fault him at all for taking such a high bonus of 500k when most were getting 100+k AND he gets to stay in calif where his family can see him.

Best of both worlds. AND he still could be #1 draft pick.

AND he doesn't have to study...lol.

Yes, because an 18YO keeping his options open is more ridiculous than grown arse adults religiously following a kid's decision

Bottom line is no one should blame the kid for his decision... how we react to it is on us.

Don’t think it’s always for the best... had Okorro taken a similar path last year, would be still be a lotto pick?... who knows.

Okoro wouldn't have been offered the same deal. There's only a select few that even have the option.

That’s why I couched it with ‘similar path’ (ie Europe or Australia, etc) and didn’t say same thing.

The point is going pro right away doesn’t always work out for the best.

I simply don't see a downside to this for Jalen. ESPECIALLY w/global pandemic factored in. He made the choice I would have made.

Personally, I think CBB is the way to go to really elevate your status. I'd more than likely go ahead and go pro if I were a for sure lottery pick. The exposure in CBB is going to be greater than a foreign league or even this G-League thing.

IF you are saying these things in regards to Green, how can CBB be greater than G League in this case? It can't.

He gets to stay in Calif to play.
His parents and family can come see him play.
He gets 500k.
He can get endorsements which is even more money.
He gets access to NBA coaches in improving his game.
He gets access to NBA arenas to practice and play.

HE doesn't get ANY of this if he goes to 1 year of college. All he gets is the college experience...

His goal is the NBA. This does that for him sooner, not college.

I’m just surprised we didn’t offer more than $250k.

We did...

When you recruit like Bruce, you are going to win some and lose some. Bruce has us with the greatest class in Auburn History. Lets enjoy and count our blessing.

I think his point was just that you get more exposure in college. You are much more of a household name in college vs other routes. But i don’t think it’s enough to outweigh the other benefits.

Jalen Green is a sure fire lottery pick so this obviously doesn't apply to him. It would apply to Okoro though.
