Okoro had to show he was better than his ranking and college was perfect for him. He narrowly missed being a five star, and he was left out of McDonald’s All American game.

The select few like a Zion/Jalen would/ will already be set up well. Significant amount of money and endorsements coming out of high school. Can stay close to home. Free college education after basketball is over if desired. Doesn’t sound like Jalen has to compete much or lead a team in G league which helps protect his draft grade. Falling from pick 2 to 10 would surely cost him millions but that worry is alleviated, so there really is nothing shortsighted about his decision. If anything college is riskier.

I still don’t understand why the NBA runs the G league the way they do, or why they expect so little from those on the select contracts, so I’m no leading expert on the matter. JMO

I really think they're just trying to keep these guys in the US with it being more common for these guys to pick overseas leagues over CBB.

Marcello saying Auburn isn't a factor with Kuminga even if he reclassifies. Its not an argument yet, but he's going back and forth with fans who are questioning why we have CBs for him then lol.

If Marcello’s source is telling him that, so be it. There may be something going on with Kuminga after all, or the rivals guy may be right. Marcello triggers people.

I know we aren't finished with this class but for next class. Give me JD and Jabari Smith and I'll be a happy man.

I'll perfectly happy if we can close with Cardwell and George Mason grad transfer. Will give us a complete team with depth at every position. No, we won't have high end talent at the 2 or 3 but we certainly do at the 1 and the 4, and solid talent at the 5.

100% agree. Only issue I could find is if the GT can't be a backup point.

True, I do think that's important. Cause I've heard that the staff has confidence Turbo can thrive at the 2.

The only problem I have w Turbo at the 2, is that he very short for the 2. I think he is 6'1", and I think that is generous. Height helps when your trying to shoot over taller guards. If he is a good slasher and consistent on his 3 pt shot then that will help.

We need scorers and that is where our options are unknowns....

We won’t have any elite scorers next year - from what I hear about SC - his main strength is in distributing the ball. I am curious to see how we look next year. Hopefully Powell becomes our John Stockton and hits lots of 3s.

I’ve watched a lot of SC. He’s my favorite Auburn signee ever in any sport. I actually think he’s a better scorer at this stage than distributor though he’s good at both.

Turbo is supposedly a good scorer so hopefully that translates even as an undersized 2. I worry about him being an undersized 2 more on the defensive end. Bryce was elite on D at 6’3 but those 2 inches can make a huge difference to Turbo’s 6’1.

Weird comparison when you consider that Stockton is known for the career record in assists and steals.. and not 3’s (although he shot 38% for his career)

Thank you! Also I believe cooper averaged 30 points a game this year. For his size, he’s one of the best finishers I’ve seen in HS.

Greg Brown has been in talks with the G league. Too early to tell it he will go that route but there are rumors.

Cooper definitely has more offensive game than some on here give him. He may not be as quick as Harper was his last year but that’s also an unfair comparison. Cooper certainly has enough speed and quickness to blow by people at the college level and shoots well enough that they can’t just play off him. Factor that in with the fact that he has elite vision and is ambidextrous, and you’ve got someone who should make an impact as soon as they get on campus.

We just have to hope the team is knocking them down when he finds them.

This is going to snowball isn’t it?

I think definitely the new norm will be that coaches are now cautious of the top 10 or 20 players.

It will probably be like a scaled down version of baseball recruiting.

I don’t think it will be a huge difference from the era when players could go straight to the draft from high school. Ultimately you’re taking a risk if you’re going after a top 5-10 guy (depending on the year) but other than that no difference. And college hoops continued to thrive in that era.

A look at the bright side. Not saying we are taking Cardwell but a player along the lines of his ranking will have us in the top 5 in the nation in recruiting class. If we can get inside the top 10 regularly we will be living in the Golden era of Auburn basketball and will only continue to build on it. Auburn is a destination place only behind the big time Blue Bloods. Just think of the players we led for at one point or another this year that we missed out on... Boston, Kessler, and Green.
