The Good:
We won. Thats a game, as many have pointed out, that we would’ve lost last year.
We’ve got some ballers.
Rayshawn Pleasant. He made play after play last night.
Bryce Cain. Loved seeing him make two incredible plays last night.
Elijah Melendez. Good as advertised.
#17 is an animal. Love watching that dude play football.
Eric Winters. Smart, tough, ready for the moment. NFL has gotta be drooling over this guy.
Defense giving up 3rd and long was again maddening but it seems like we cleaned a lot of that up in the 2nd half.
Team chemistry. I was impressed with the postgame comments from players and coaches. If we’re going to upset some teams, this team has the chemistry to do it. Just don’t think we have the talent to match it, unfortunately.
Bryson Washington has the makings of a guy who can move the chains. I hope he continues to develop and get more carries.
The Bad:
We have a G6 offense. It is what it is. There is almost no one on offense that would start for UGA, Bama, A&M, OM, LSU, TX, Okie, UT. Maybe Singleton or #19TE in the two-deep somewhere but that’s it. G6 players play G6 level ball.
OL is gonna kill us against the big boys who have both talent and scheme. I shudder to think of teams like LSU and UGA who not only can overpower us, but stunt and come from everywhere. Not sure how you scheme up opponents with an OL like that.
Byrum Brown is a guy you pull for. Great kid, maximizing his talent. But he’s not a P4 QB. He holds the ball way too long for big boy football, and his throwing motion is indeed a problem.
BU was killing us throwing in the flats. Especially in the first half. Wonder what they saw that we couldn’t stop. I thought Lagway was tough and poised and better than i originally thought. He threw some dimes.
We benefited on defense from Aranda’s mystifying decisions as much as anything.
I’m glad we won and I think our defense will keep us in games, but I don’t know how we score points with this bunch.
I really like Golesh and I hope he succeeds, but when he said in the post game presser that he thought Byrum played well, it made me feel like we were watching two different games.

Offense looks like amateur monkey shite. It’s going to be a long season because of talent deficiencies, but once we get our real guys in, we’ll improve a lot.
Maybe we’ll snag a victory or two to get to 7-5 or 8-4.
I think you could repost the same threads five years in a row and see the same pattern.

The frustrating part for me was we were told Brown's legs would be a difference. That was a lie. He is not a runner and is an average passer.

Before yesterday I thought 8-4 or 7-5. Now I’m thinking 5-7 or 6-6 at best.

Yeah Brown isn’t good. It’s so frustrating that we continue to have woes on offense no matter who is coach. We have a championship caliber defense two years in a row and we amount to nothing on offense.

It’s maddening how inept our offenses are, no matter the coach or players. We bring in QBs who are good enough to play at the college level, and they look like they have forgotten how to throw a football. I know it starts with the line, but still. Even guys like Stidham didn’t look as good at AU as he did at Baylor.
Maybe we are cursed. Maybe someone did make a crossroads deal sometime between 2010 and 2013, because what we have experienced since then is almost beyond comprehension.

I’m not as down on Brown as some are. Expected him to be better for sure, and INT’s are unacceptable and he had two really bad ones. Did think he did some good things and there is something there if his confidence isn’t shaken too badly. Curious to see how he responds

Defense will get better. I liked what I saw over the arc of the game from them, overall.
Some potential in the backfield that can grow.
Lines aren't good. Brown is average at best. Receivers play hard, but Baylor is probably around Mississippi State level in ability. If Lagway wouldn't have gotten hurt, I think we lose that game last night.
Personally, I'm sick of spread schemes of all shapes and sizes... but here we are. Again. I hope we can recruit some talent to fill the holes. I predicted 7-5 before this game. I still think that's in the cards... but 6-6 seems more likely.

The best thing in my opinion that happened yesterday was our offense finally staying on the field and scoring when it mattered to let our defense know that they were not alone.

If we are going to be taking that many short drops (with that line), then the ball simply has to come out on time (completion, or incompletion). Brown looks OK'ish on designed runs (the power stuff), but he is not going to get a lot of scramble/broken play yardage. Maybe he did at USF, but he's not quick enough and will just take sacks here. The line didn't protect but some of the sacks were on the QB. Arm strength did not impress, with several outside passes where receivers were waiting on the ball. I also think that his long hitchy throwing motion contributed to the tipped ball interception.
Of course Brown would be better with more protection/blocking. I hope both Brown and the offense are better than what they showed last night. Or there will be some beat downs coming against the better defensive teams.

Byrum Brown graded out at 119 that is considered average or inconsistent..................a 1.5 million dollar salary is not considered average or inconsistent.
Some of the line problems were him holding the ball.
And as someone mentioned, two of those interceptions were really bonehead decisions. You could clearly see the safety converging on the play before the pass was thrown.
Lots of good to work on coming out of this game overall. Lets clean the stuff up and move on.

Agreed. Last year’s team would have found a way to lose this game, maybe go 3 and out on the go ahead drive. Then, they would punt and hope the defense gets a stop. The defense, out there for 100 plays, is gassed and can’t do it.

Florida at home is going to be interesting. Sumrall was my first (and many others) first logical choice for HC. It’s seems the our AD botched the hire because he told JS that he had to retain Durkin and JS told him to kick rocks. *Golesh enters chat*
If Florida comes into JHS and runs us out of the stadium I say we all line up and punch Cohen in the face.

You say it in jest but I 100 percent believe we really are at this point. I am a bit of a conspiracy theorist though.
That being said 15 more W’s to go. Get your BP meds cause it’s gonna be another season of typical Auburn finishes to games.

The biggest takeaway is that we have had basically the same coach with the same problems 3 out of the last 4 coaches. We had Gus, Harsin (different problems). Freezers (Gus 2.0), and watching yesterday Golesh (Russian Gus). It’s amazing we spent how many millions to fix things but it’s like Ground Hog day every Saturday.
