Kiffin was always my main guy. I just had no problem saying Deion was a gamble but I was for it, because, as I said then, if he didnt work out we could still circle back and hire Freeze.

More than likely two-thirds of the people listed he doesnt even deserve credit for. Clay Wedin and Bradyn Joiner probably wont ever do anything.

He shows up as the secondary recruiter for Tank, however Garner and Gus mostly did work there.

Coach Friend brought Hunter with him. He does deserve credit for Damari and Cobb, but neither has been anything to write home about. That can change-especially with Cobb.

We need the RB coach to show up in the recruiting rankings. I don't know why there has to be any gray area when we certainly don't let other coaches have this much grey area. If anything let the offensive mastermind or defensive coordinator be the less responsible coach in recruiting.

I don’t really mind your critiques of Caddy at all. I just think the backs have been better than you are letting on. I do agree that you generally do want the skill coaches to be high level recruiters but I don’t think Caddy’s performance as a combo of recruiting and on field production has been anything close to fireable. Especially when compared to some of our other position groups across multiple coaching staffs.

I certainly wouldn't want to give an appearance of firing either...I doubt we would. But a mutual parting followed by an addition of an impact recruiter would be beneficial.

Now as far as what the other staff members have done:

The OC and DC can do whatever.

Jeremy Garrett is ranked 12th best recruiter in the nation

Thornton is right there ripe for scrutiny. Ranked 115th right now.

Etheridge and Marcus Davis have been doing great. Marcus Davis is currently the number 4 recruiter in the nation! Etheridge is number 66! Caddy has never had a great impact like that. His rank is 427. I mean crap dude. This is the RB coach.

2025 will be Thornton’s make or break year. I’m not terribly happy with his recruiting so far, but as has been said many times, OL recruiting is different than most. If our 2025 OL class is still subpar, I think we will have to go a different direction there.

What about the Charles Kelly hire? Seems like the announcement came out and nothing more. He is going to be “Co-Defensive Coordinator”….. What does that mean for the long term direction for the defense?

I can’t see Roberts and Kelly working together as Co-DCs. Way different personalities, coaching styles, and schemes. I think Aldridge and Kelly will be Co-DCs

As in we are getting rid of Robert’s?

That’s what I think, based on the context. Could be wrong. Also seems that at times Roberts was a bit of a loose cannon. He was firing back at fans on Twitter, and apparently drove McGriff off.

Rb coaches recruit, they’re just like WR coaches. There’s not some magical coaching they do besides get talent

Of course not.
They are not responsible for teaching technique or responsibilities in certain situations, much less reading the gaps and angles that defenders are playing.

He still hasn't officially been announced by the university but he is contacting Recruits and HS coaches, so I assume the hire has went through.

I think Roberts and Pmonty are both gone after the next few days.

Fine with me, especially with Montgomery. I get that we were handicapped by our talent level, but good lord his game plans were awful. It blew my mind how little we tried to get the ball to guys in space with quicker plays and screens.

I dont understand why Roberts would be fired if McGriff left. I would think if Hugh Freeze told McGriff that Roberts was leaving, he would stick around.

Deion Sanders leaked the Kelly hire to mess with Auburn. The timing was not what coach wanted.

I prefer as much continuity as possible early in a new coaches tenure when you have this much recruiting momentum. Changes should really only come if we have an ace up the sleeve. With Crime out and Kelly in surely there won't be much more turnover.

I am told word got out before coach could tell the team. Kids love Crime and dislike ZE. It has spiraled.

True words. Understand we are good with Lee and Cobb , but not 100percent confirmed.

JH is the wild card, Ole Miss (golf cart Kiffen Tweet), maybe be in his to replace Junkins. We should know sometime tomorrow or Sunday.

There is some smoke on Caddy nothing to confirm, basically rumors. I hope not, but Auburn legends should not be immune to criticism. (ZE and tweeting Treed)

I thought he did fine. Deandre Carter is a Top 5 IOL. Flipped Favour, who is a project that Bama, and Florida wanted. And also got a highly ranked Juco. We have 11 OL returning, I don’t think any have entered the transfer portal. We will probably pick up 1 or 2 in the portal.

Reports yesterday late were Jase McClellan was entering the portal projected to OM.
