Not to beat a dead horse but running backs want to play for lines that can block for them. The fact we've been able to get any decent backs the last three years is pretty amazing

In 2012 Auburn went 3-9 and the offense produce 1,871 yards passing + 1,781 yards rushing for a total of 3,660 yards. Thru 6 games, Auburn’s 2,084 total yards is on track to barely eclipse that number making it one of the worst in recent memory. #auburnfootball
@thewarrapport

People forget how bad our offense looked in our first 6 games. Thorne led the RBs in rushing yards and average, and nobody could catch or block or throw. We rack up points against Arkansas, Vandy, and State and we are a ranked rushing team again

How do these rumors start? The following is my opinion, no inside info. I expect changes in the staff, etc. (All about Fit).

DC - we are bringing in Kelly from Colorado,(Not official announced) to take CrimeDogs (McGriff) spot. Don't think we will part ways with Roberts.

Philip Montgomery has the title of OC, but underwhelmed. Hard to merge two systems. Hugh Freeze will be the OC next year. Montgomery may find a different job, but there is a limit to what can be spent. Will not be straight up fired.

Folks expect changes and so do I, but I think they are guessing with regards to Carnell. Which assistant underperformed last year?

Marcus Davis and Zac Ethridge I believe are golden. Auburn connection and both can recruit.

Garrett (Dline)
Thornton (Oline)
Aldridge (LB)
Aigamaua (TE)

McGriff (Already Gone)

I think Roberts and Monty are both gone. Aldridge and Kelly will be Co-DCs, not sure what we do about the OC position. Derrick Nix will be a hot name for the RB Coach if Caddy leaves

And Caddy has only been the primary recruiter for 6 players since 2019, when he joined the staff

This suggests our OL did a good job run blocking AND our backs were effective this season.

Inept passing game was the issue this year

Only 1 1,000 yard rusher in 5 years

As Corch and others have noted, 1k rushers are becoming less and less common. Most blue chip RB recruits don't even want to go somewhere where they are going to get their brains beat in. 15-18 efficient touches per game is the new normal for blue chip backs.

I just think anyone with the resume and results that Caddy has had would have been shown the door, except that he was a legend as a player.

Our backs have been generally productive during his tenure unless you just want to obsess over the 1k artificial barometer of success.

Meanwhile our receivers, OL, and QB play have been pitiful.

We loved that barometer of success when that achievement was automatic. I am just saying. "Productive" to you means DJ Williams or Boobee Whitlow. No sir. Mediocre.

If you are telling me our backs were effective against Cal, A&M, LSU, Maryland, and Samford I dont know what to tell you. Hunter had 7 games with 59 or less rushing yards.

Game planning and OL play have nothing to do with that.

ETA against Maryland, JH ran 13 times. Alston ran it 9 times.

What other SEC schools would hire Cadillac?
