Yeah like you said earlier ITT, this subject has been beaten to death, still some big games ahead Gus and AU, and plenty of games left for the Top 4 to be shaken up
No doubt.

So for something new. The most Auburn thing ever is to beat GA and AL and drop Samford in between... what happens then?

Ron makes his money by generating clicks on a website...writing an article giving AU fans Gus might be gone is simply a good business decision and it doesn't matter if he has no information or any perspective.

So I guess I’ll put this bottle of Jergens back under the sink?

If you say that, what is the point of saying anything at all.

So he is basically saying Gus will get fired or quit...one day. OK?

IF Gus was to leave after this year I guarantee he won't go to Arkansas. Thats a horrible job right now and thanks to Chad Morris he's going to know all the behind the scenes things too. He could find a much better job than that.

Yea, he’s damaged goods, how the frick are you damaged goods worth 100mil$

Damaged goods, dumb arse

Most coaches hang it up and stay in Auburn and live out their ‘damaged’ life

Gus will leave when he’s tired of it. He probably will be an anchor / analyst etc when he’s done. May go coach with friends but he doesn’t seem like that kind of guy that can only survive on ego

Have you watched Gus on TV...he's horrible at it. It's similar to when he game plans against one of rivals. Zero chance ESPN throws money at him for an analyst position.

A lot of coaches copy Gus plays and he is the best I’ve heard break down a Saban defense as an analyst. So yea, he would be 100x better than having to listen to some schmuck like Gary Danielson

Enjoy

You must be new to Gus Malzahn to make this statement

Thats just dumb. When is the last time we lost to someone like Samford? I hear you guys say that all the time but its just boardspeak.

Urban Meyer seems like a very bad choice for any elite college football team - sure he is definitely a top 2-3 coach in college football but he would probably only stay a few years before he retires due to some help issue like he did at Florida and Ohio State.

Maybe so. But in the meantime, he would boost recruiting and probably bring in some top notch coordinator that could take over the program after he left. Ohio State is still rolling right along after he got them in a good place.

That's the thing with Urban or Stoops or the like. While I don't think they're ideal for the reasons discussed, they would be high profile hires. More than likely, they'd do at least decently, wouldn't let their tenure drag on if unsuccessful, and would keep the seat warm and talent levels up for the next guy.

It's one of my ambitions with Bruce too. I hope he stays forever, but if not, I hope he completely changes the type of coach that would be interested in the job. Obviously in football we're on a different level to begin with, but I can't imagine any high profile coach would look at a HOF level coach preceding him and not take that into account.

From Arkansas 247 Writer, Trey Biddy:

quote:

First, we are dramatically early in this coaching search. I'm hearing there is some early back-and-forth from inside influencers and a lot of chatter but that Hunter is on the outside of it operating more quietly. He will need some of these money people to make the best possible hire. Also hearing anybody who says they know something solid right now, if it's coming out of Arkansas, then it's probably being fed by someone of influence regarding their 'wishes' on who they want.

I think this is true in the case of Gus Malzahn. There is a contingent that wants Hunter to go after Gus Malzahn again, and I can't tell for sure if Hunter really wants to do that. It's hard to say either way what a guy like that in that position is actually thinking, but there are those who want it, and he will need to at least explore it. I have heard from multiple people, including outside of Arkansas, that there has at least been olive branches to Jimmy Sexton regarding Malzahn, as I posted yesterday.

Seems plausible but Marcello said Arky was basically miffed that Gus flirted with them in 2017 just for a pay raise.

Don’t know why they’d be ready to forgive him now.

Let’s not forget also Marcello was speaking absolute truths and didn’t leave any wiggle room when he said “Gus would never leave Auburn for Arkansas unless his family is not comfortable. And well, they are comfortable now.”

Probably not, but if their mod is right then the money guys at Arkansas are going to make Yuracheck at least explore it

Seems like we knew that

Arkansas is in terrible shape. I don’t think he’d go back, even if he’s fired.
