Idk, but he has the best resume of coaches Auburn has hired since Dye.

I’ll put him at a solid 7 until I see the staff.

I had drinks with a Bama buddy of mine tonight and we talked at length about the hire.

Some thoughts:
1. I was never super high on Cristobal or Napier, which until the announcement seemed like our best choices. Gus and Harsin both beat Cristobal. Napier has done great where he is but like Harsin has more HC experience.
2. Definitely a better hire than Clark or Steele or god forbid Neal Brown.
3. I like we went outside the “familiar” candidates. It’s been a long time since we did that.
4. Really hope Greene told the power boosters to pound sand and we’re going to see a change how our AD works moving forward.
5. Harsin has a lot of weapons on offense and will be curious to see how he utilizes them.
7, he seems like a no nonsense guy which I like.

The more I look into Harsin, the more I like him.

If you throw out all the BS everyone was spreading and use your head, he is a 9 for Auburn. If you have been around this program, you will know that he is a solid 9 for us. Good hire. Glad all the noise was just that. I hope some people learned some things even though I am sure they wont. Will he be able to compete? Who knows but you never know that until you are in the game

Totally agree! This is the type of hire that we needed. I know that people wanted the big name, but this will be a better long term fix for us. The more I hear him speak, the more I like his honesty. This is the type of hire that will change the culture of the program. He’s obviously not intimidated by our division, otherwise he’d say thanks, but no thanks.

Can’t wait to see his staff. Cole tweeted out that Harsin would have control over his staff. Interested to see who he hires.

8/10. I believe he could be the perfect fit we are looking for though

7.5 or 8

It checks a lot of our boxes

- Offensive
- Works w/ QBs
- HC experience and a winner
- Many outside the SEC are treating it as a fairly big hire, because Harsin wasn't expected to leave Boise.

Bonus points - It is at worst intriguing to national media (many are praising it) so it will help move us on from the "you spent 21m for WHAT" narrative.

I agree...but I'm going to go with an 8.4 in honor of what his average wins per season will likely be in 5 or 6 years.

He has turned down other jobs to stay at Boise. I am shocked we lured him away

Seems he was at odds with the administration there in Boise and the conference. Sounds like he wanted more of a commitment than the school was willing to give. He was also very vocal about moving forward with the season when the Mountain West was debating whether or not to shut down due to the virus.

Boise State also has an interim president and AD at the moment I think. He will definitely have more resources made available to him here. Seems like it was just a perfect storm of bad situation where he was and the right situation came along and presented a better opportunity to operate at the level he expected Boise to jump to. Good move for Harsin and Auburn imo.

I think Auburn University should take a look at Coach Tony Elliot of Clemson University. He would add energy and excitement to the program.

You forgot to switch accounts Woodrow.

The hire to me was out of left field, which turns out to be great.

I'm leaning to 8, especially with the 1's or 2's that had been mentioned in the previous days.

I hope he nails down a solid staff and Auburn truly invests in his tenure, with staff $ and facility upgrades. If you're truly in the arms race of college football, you've got to commit.

Depends on when you are talking about. Expectations got pretty low til he was announced.

Overall: 6

I think hiring Harsin was a 7.5

Bringing his wife is a 9.

Maybe I’m seeing something or missing something on the wife. She’s a nice looking lady but for just doesn’t do it. Maybe it’s the couple of pics I saw but nothing made me go yep.

Harsin is the most experienced/established coach Auburn has hired in almost 100 years.

Urban Meyer, Nick Saban, Les Miles, and Mark Richt had a total of 0 games combined coached in the conference when they were hired. He just needs the assistants.

This guy was the playcaller for all of those Boise State Fiesta Bowl wins... Who doesnt remember Boise State beating Oklahoma on the Statue of Liberty.

Harsin has continued what Coach Pete did in Boise.

We went Chris Peterson coaching tree rather than the $aban tree. Absolutely love this hire

I think it more about how fit she is and looks really good in a bikini.

Personally, she looks a little hard looking, but in other pictures she looks all american. May depend on what years the photos were taken.

I'm going with 7.5-8 depending on coaching staff, and more depending on the class left to be recruited
