Rate the hire from what you were expecting 1-10 (10 being best).

Me - 8.5

Guess what % of the fanbase will be all-in on Coach Harsin after A-Day or spring practice which ever we get to have?

Me - 80%

Go!

A 4, you serious clark? what were you expecting? I like the reply but just wondering the reasoning.

6.5 or 7. Not a great hire, not a bad hire. What assistants he hire will determine a lot, per usual.

Would have much preferred Napier, but after the crapshow of the past few days and the names we'd been hearing can't complain.

The day that we fired Gus: 5

Midweek after: 6

Weekend: 7

Today: 8.0

He is a very solid hire when faced with prospects of Steele, Brown, and Quinn.

I still wanted Cristobal or Napier.

I’m excited too. But he has a ton of obstacles to work through. I hope Steele is fired because this guy is basically going to become steeles OC even though he’s the coach.

7.9. Almost an 8.1. No rookie scores here. Can move to an 8.1 with some good hires.

I don't see that at all. If Steele is in the running for DC he is still being paid by AU. You either do you job or get fired for cause and lose your buyout and ruin your career as an assistant.

Don't want this getting off course but I do think Harsin will retain, fire, or hire who he wants to fill his staff.

I’ll put him at a solid 7 until I see the staff.

I had drinks with a Bama buddy of mine tonight and we talked at length about the hire.

Some thoughts:
1. I was never super high on Cristobal or Napier, which until the announcement seemed like our best choices. Gus and Harsin both beat Cristobal. Napier has done great where he is but like Harsin has more HC experience.
2. Definitely a better hire than Clark or Steele or god forbid Neal Brown.
3. I like we went outside the “familiar” candidates. It’s been a long time since we did that.
4. Really hope Greene told the power boosters to pound sand and we’re going to see a change how our AD works moving forward.
5. Harsin has a lot of weapons on offense and will be curious to see how he utilizes them.
7, he seems like a no nonsense guy which I like.

My optimism says 9, but I'm going to try to remove my biases and go with a 7.

I think it's a great hire. Of the coaches we had a legit shot at, he is way up the list. He has turned down other jobs to stay at Boise. I am shocked we lured him away.

#Metoo

9/10

Would have been happy with Napier but like this choice even more. There's his pedigree, his winning percentage, and him having been a QB at Boise and leaving for AU. And from a couple YouTube videos I'm also sensing what appears to be a rubber toughened demeanor both in practice and press conference. There's also that he's in his forties as opposed to mid 50's to 60's. And from what little I've read his game plan appears to flexible enough to fit the occasion and he has both the talent and humility to make mid game adjustments.

And big plus(s) and equality important:

1) he doesn't come with a NCAA warning label attached to his forehead and
2) that Allen Greene made the hire as AD and
3) it appears the AD did have one segment of backer support (which in itself is not a bad way to do business)

Plus No. 1 for me: I wanted a young but proven, on his way up, and still hungry guy, that might with time become a legacy coach. Instead of a for hire top tier who' best days may be behind him.

10 when compared to what I was thinking. (Steele, Clark).

Also love the no Auburn connection. Love ADAG’s leadership and courage.

Would have preferred Billy.

If you throw out all the BS everyone was spreading and use your head, he is a 9 for Auburn. If you have been around this program, you will know that he is a solid 9 for us.

Good hire. Glad all the noise was just that. I hope some people learned some things even though I am sure they wont.

Will he be able to compete? Who knows but you never know that until you are in the game.

8.

Halftime of the Ole Miss game I was looking at coaches’ Wiki pages and thought he would be a good hire, but didn’t think he’d leave Boise.

I’m curious about his coordinators and assistants, though.
