2 mil was what we were willing to pay him but Texas will pay him more, so let him go

Picking Arch over Brown would be a choice if the NFL is your end goal. If it is about creating game tape, Oregon or Miami would be the logical choice.

Is it just me or did young Mendoza bear a strong resemblance to Screech?

This is such a weird way to rewrite history. This has already been discussed at length for years.
Do you truly believe if he was competing for SEC championships every year we wouldn't have seen an uptick in wr and o line recruiting? Ill concede we would lose a dude or two bc the negative recruiting angle is real but to act like it's this unmovable obstacle is ridiculous. Hell Bama has EJ Crowell committed this year after he sat there and watched bama rbs go 5 for 17 all year.

I remember all of our recruiting battles dude.
We got 5 stars at DE and DT. High 4 stars at CB and LB very regularly.
We could go into Georgia and pull Derrick Brown but not Trey Hill? There is a reason for that.

We should take a poll on how many guys every poster thinks will return. I could see up to 10 and I can believe 0 so Im gonna guess 5 guys come back that have entered the portal from Auburn

Finally some portal news after all the middle school drama.
We need a Fight Club Thread. Everyone bring their arguments there

I knew his dad. Great guy. Had an elevated opinion of his son’s talents. But if you didn’t know him you wouldn’t know his so was playing for Auburn. If I remember right, they got some bad advice from an agent.

I think very few, if any, will return

Portal Hire: Jeris Mcintyre to Auburn from UCF

I'm fine with arguing about Golesh offense along with NFL vs college systems because in some way I can still be tied into Portal talk. However, There are times when dudes are talking fishing or bringing up beefs that stretch back 10 years or so
That seems more useless.

Or drives me crazy when people call this offense gimmicky.... it is imo the complete opposite of what I call a gimmick system. It's simplistic to the point it complex. That's why it has worked so well.
Like you said. Spacing is a high part. They make you cover every blade of grass. Thus also it's usually why the run game is so good. Spreads up out.
I don't think the route trees are overly simple so much as the concepts as a whole are relatively simplistic bc of the splits and at spacing. Relies more on one on one matchups and just let your guy win.
I believe one of the reasons you don't see this much in the NFL is because of the narrow hash marks. You're almost always pretty much in the middle of the field whereas on the college level if you're on a hash you have a lot of real estate to the fieldside to work with and put stress on the Defenders
I could care less how the system translates to NFL systems as long as we are winning games if you put out thousand plus yard receivers you're in year out you're going to draw Talent regardless how they do in the league

Add Mbwake to the possible list.

Agreed. There is no time for guys to shop around and then somehow have a spot to come back to even if they wanted that. There is maybe a few guys that would have that option, but its the same guys that should already have bigger offers lined up elsewhere if they didn't like out offer. The staff will have already spoken with the reps for 3-4 replacement options for every guy that entered the Portal.

Who do we want back? Cam Coleman would be great, but I just don’t think it’s happening.
Jay Crawford and Amaris Williams would be great back.
Some OL guys maybe for depth. Did any of these OL guys in the portal play besides Chaplin?
Duece would be great to have, but I just don’t see it working.
Woodyard is great, but also think the LB group is the best returning group on the team.

Sounds like certain position coaches were better recruiters/developers than others to me. All we gotta do is get the guys to the league. Then the kids will believe they'll do the rest when they get there. And the veer and shoot has been putting plenty of guys in the NFL at UT as meta already stated.

Very few will return. The schools have 15 days to try and fill their roster, they cant wait for some kid to decide if he will come back a month from now. Im certain this was made very clear to them.
The nonsense of "they are just testing their market value" does not fly. Im certain Byrum Brown knew his offer from Auburn before he ever entered the portal.
On the flip side, should be the same with visits, your offer is good until you walk out the door.....then its next man up.
