his OL guys were spotty at best
Gunner Britton was really damn good.
Wade has all SEC potential if he gets moved to Guard.
Senda has potential to be a multi year starter.
Think they did really good in the OL considering the time they had.

We were a 3 win team tops before Freeze rebuilt the roster. This season was frustrating to fans because we dropped several games we had a chance to win, and the offense looked inept at points. With that being said we've given ourselves a fighting chance and flipped the talent at key positions. If we don't destroy ourselves with negative energy that our own fanbase is spreading then we should be ok.

These guys are making deals fast
Portal seems to loaded with that, 'you've got 30 min to buy'. Where it's tempting, but pretty much a long shot with their fit and culture. Need's be damn... I like what he's doing. We doing chemo due to some of that now.

Muskrat didnt do too bad either.
The other side of the coin, what on earth would our OL, DL, and LB looked like WITHOUT the portal. That is a scary thought.

I think last year got help from the hype for hiring him. This year he either got just beat out or focused so much on HS kids that he missed the best options we had a shot at in the portal.
Or, one year kids dont want to play for a team that is losing to high school teams and giving up 4th and 32
Sucking that bad has consequences.

I think that’s more the case. These portal guys want to win immediately. They don’t want to hear a pitch about how much better the team will be in their second or third year.
If we finished the year beating NMST and Bama I think we are having success with these guys.

Judkins ditching a playoff caliber team for another shows we are in strange days.
Recruiting is whole new monster, unrecognizable even from the Gus days. A lot has changed quickly.
I feel like Hugh deserves more leash here but he literally pitched the portal to us.

Agreed. The future is elite HS kids, the now is portal guys. IMO, I think folks see more clearly where the program is. And I don’t think we need a ton of G5 transfers now even if they’re high performers. Freeze thought they hit on a lot of his 2023 class. The 2024 class is highly ranked and has a lot of potential and the 2025 class has started off really well.
We need the young guys in and developing at this point. These first few years if a coach’s tenure can suck arse and it’s why we need to eventually hit on one of these guys. Hoping it’s Freeze

2019 LSU was the outlier. 2010 Auburn was the outlier.
If you want to win a title, you do it in the trenches. Any CFB coach that isn’t talking about needing the best big men in football to win rings is wasting your time.
LSU also won the Joe Moore offensive line award.
I found Jville's arse.

Everytime someone wins a natty folks try to reframe football around what worked for that particular team

There is no excuse for NMST but even losing to Bama with 2 plays that would have won it for us (most likely) shows we aren't far from a decent team.

Is this person mental? Both of those teams had really good lines. 2010 Auburn had both good oline and dline play. In fact, it was the dline that dominated Oregon’s oline was the deciding factor that game.
You know what both of those teams had too? A great QB. In fact, the real outlier is finding many teams that have won a natty with mediocre QB play. Ironically, uat has done it twice: 1992 and 2009.

I'm okay with it. It seems as though this rebuild is going to take a bit longer than any of us want it to. At least White will have some premium receivers to throw to and he has the arm for it.
You're assuming those guys stick around. Not likely in todays climate especially if we can't put points on the board and highlight their abilities.

Our lines were actually really good that year. Our secondary was not.

24 this is my concern as well. Thompson and Coleman we have in house are 3 and done. They will play early and often, but if we cant make those throws, they wont waste time on "hope".
Kind of leads to the point of playing Walker, Brown, etc this year. Heaven forbid we have a stumbling year with Thorne this fall, then have to start all over with an inexperienced QB in year two of their careers, they will probably bolt.
I remember the advice of a fat, ugly, filthy rich businessman from the mountains of Norton VA. He had a stunningly beautiful and lovely wife. I asked him how in the hell he could end up with her and he said "catch em young and get em pregnant, they far less likely to leave".
Im speaking metaphorically of course, Im not suggesting some of you make advances on the players as some of you have implied with former QBs...not to name names

quote:Lol 2 OL from that team went pro and there was an unblockable tackle on the defensive front. The WR position wasn’t elite.
2010 Auburn was the outlier.
The team also had a bunch of sleeper NFL talent on defense like Byrnes.
The real anomaly in CFB is winning championships with a bad QB. Swap Milroe with any of the other playoff QBs and watch how it goes.

Take Milroe off of Alabama and they lose to us, Arky and A&M.
