Nothing has been baffling with regard to the offense.

Our top3 WR room in the country couldn't get open against South Alabama.

I don't think this weekend at Oklahoma is going to be fun.

Hopefully we have been holding back, but history doesn't convince me of that.

We got a five star WR that loves Freeze committed.

It really is baffeling how incapable we seem to be to have a true passing game that looks like it can dictate what happens instead of being reacitonary. I honestly can't remember the last time we really did. I don't know what it is about Auburn teams. We just never seem to have guys running with space. Everything is always a tight, contested catch. I wish I could say it was just a Hugh issue, but unfortunately its been this way for a long time.

I say this every game...

Our "best in the country" WRs have defenders all on them every pass, and the other teams seem to catch passes with no one within 5 yards.

Same. In the Baylor game, watching Trigg torch us in the middle of the field over and over again was maddening. Then watching UGA and UT do it against each other was just depressing. We've had so many WRs cycle through here without a single 1k season since 1999, so it can't be that all the players are bad. Same goes for coaches, we've had defensive and offensive oriented coaches and it hasn't mattered. Must be something in the water.

Trigg was what I thought Coleman was going to be. We've boxed Coleman into the jumpball guy and Singleton into the gadget guy. Fields is the hitch guy so he can box out defenders.

Same shite different year.

Oklahoma will be the litmus test. There really hasn’t been a need to throw it down field. If you can win a game being vanilla, do it.

Agree. We have only been playing from behind for 2 drives (first 2 drives of the year and only down 3 points.) We haven't seen any of the fast tempo stuff much at all.

Things to be happy with:

Turnovers. Auburn had 9 I believe in the first 3 games last year. Only 1 this year, and that was a weird Fumble against Ball State.

Sustained long drives. Auburn is 17th in the nation on 3rd down conversions 52.9%. 4th down 5 of 5. ---41.5% in 2024

Rushing. 16th in the nation in yard per game rushing. 11th in Rushing TDs.

Redzone TDs - 9 Redzone Attempts, 7 TDs, 2 FGs --- 41 attempts, 20 TDs, 12 FGs in 2024

You are bringing back some painful memories to me. Malzahn, an offensive guru, and it was defense that we were above average at. I can remember just shaking my head at how bad our offense was the last few years he was walking the AU sideline.

Deep shots require great protection.

Drag or over routes take great protection.

I like the combo of Coleman and Singleton.

I will not comment on TE.

Thompson, Fields and Simmons will contribute.

Alston seems the best in pass pro.

Cobb is a good receiver.

Wheel to Cobb after Coleman and Singleton clear the area is a dream of mine.

This is where I am too and I hope I’m proven completely wrong. While we didn’t need to throw deep against S Alabama, our pass game was pedestrian at best. Maybe that was by design, but it’s concerning when we should really be able to pass at will against teams like that and we didn’t. 13/24 for 142 yards is kind of striking if you ask me.

These are the games that you go up big and bring in your second string QB to play the last 20 minutes. Based on his Ball St performance, Knight needs all the live action he can get.

“I really feel like we haven’t shown anything yet, but…I mean, y’all are gonna see.”
“This week should be the first week we have everybody back and 100% healthy [on offense], and it should be exciting to watch.”

Some of y'all need to chill. We are 3-0 and we haven’t shown much of anything on offense because we’ve been able to run the ball down the throat of our opponents. Something we will use to our advantage in setting up the pass. We’ve got to clean up some things, but I like where we are so far. No one is giving us a chance on Saturday, just like we like it.
