No reason to meltdown

This team is a disaster years in the making. NMSU is actually a solid team and it’s pretty clear we brought zero intensity to start the game with. We don’t have the talent to turn on the jets in the second half and make a comeback. Harsin and Malzahn’s awful recruiting molded this team and Freeze had little time to rectify it through the transfer portal last season.
It’s a throw away season and the objective was always to recruit a monster class and we can still do that. That’s what matters. Keep donating to OTV and we all are going to be pleasantly surprised with the recruiting finish and will look back at this as our Louisiana Monroe game. (That LAMO team was WAYYY worse than this NMSU team, by the way.)
Cheers to the 2024 class.

Don’t you know the sky is falling? It’s unrealistic to give someone time to do the job. I can’t believe we don’t want to fire another coach and start over again :X

I agree with most of it. You are getting a downvote for bringing up irrelevant ULM though.
NMSU is more than likely just Freeze's next Memphis.

personally, Im OK with the melt. It is needed.
Team is bad. People have been saying that all year. Some of the sunshine pumpers got a excited when we beat Vandy, State and Army but lots didnt
WE knew it was going to be a bad year. QB sucks, WR sucks, though they are experienced. Coaching staff is yet to be determined
But,
Not 21 point loss to a CSA team who we were more than a 24 point favorite to. Not the worst loss in recent Auburn history bad.
Potato head didnt even lose that bad and his roster was worse that what we have now in the 11th game of the season
If there ever was a time for the melt, this is it

Right now it is the 8th best class in our conference.

Not many actually want him fired but it is ok to call him out for having this team prepared horribly for this game. The players nor the coaches were even close to being ready for the game yesterday.
We can make excuses for the roster but you can’t make excuses for getting your shite pushed in against a team you were favored to beat by 26 points.

I think a melt is ok, but overreaction is not.
It always sucks to lose. I won’t rehash that this team has less talent than any Auburn team since, well, as far back as I can remember, AND we didn’t expect them to be world beaters just yet, BUT you do not lose to NMSU! You just don’t.
Nobody associated with the program should get a pass because it’s a “rebuilding year.” They were talented and well coached, but we looked like we didn’t want to be there. That’s inexcusable. It’s one thing to get beaten. It happens. It’s another to get pushed around and have zero fight in you.
The lack of effort, pride, and fire is what concerns me.

The loss only counts as one loss. NMSU is good and would beat multiple SEC teams this year. At least 4 of them.
The only thing embarrassing about these times is the Auburn slander coexisting with Bo being Heisman favorite so late into the season. Given the last game, Bo looks smart and Auburn looks pathetic.

Correct.
Goal was bowl game. We achieved that.

NMSU was a buzzsaw. Welcome to the marriage of learning and experiencing the word. Hugh says we only had 15 plays in the first half when counting penalties and had drive killing penalties most drives. We had like 45 total plays overall. 45 total plays. 9 errors. Not great. We could not get to the QB, not because of the effort, but because they were simply better. So they chewed up lot of clock. No matter the strategy they mopped up with us. The lack of crowd fed into the game. It was a buzzsaw and felt like it early on.

Even in 2012 we beat cupcake teams. This team is awful and should be embarrassed by how they performed yesterday.

Don't even try to compare 2012 to this year.

I just think it was the perfect storm of events.
1) We are still down in talent.
2) They have a veteran team that he has had time to build. These things happen in cycles and they will probably drop off next year a bit, so we caught them at the wrong time.
3) We got our 6th win last week, so probably some let down by the team and staff.
4) They might have been looking ahead to Bama...Players and coaches alike.
And finally they played a perfect game. They limited our offensive possessions and plays. We are not super talented on offense to start with, but we ran 5 offensive plays in the 1st quarter.
First possession was a 3 and out (gained 8 yard) and the 2nd possession started at the 5 yardline. We ran 2 plays and went to the 2nd quarter got 1 first down and punted. We scored a TD on our 3rd possession and then got the ball with second left in the half.
We ran 23 offensive snaps in the first half with 12 coming on the scoring drive and 2 at the end of the half.

It's a classic trap game.
Arkansas, coming off a big win, came out flat against us
We blow Arky out
Look past NMSU and start thinking about beating Bama and how we're "back". I absolutely promise you the players and staff started looking ahead to Bama.
NMSU puts us in our place
We don't have the talent this year to overlook any team. We overlooked a team, and got embarrassed. Hope it's a good lesson for the whole team and staff moving forward.

So true
I can think of worse losses. Like the two of the Miss St. games. One under Tubs were we blew a two score lead in the final minutes to Jackie and the one under Harsin. Don't forget the USCw shut out at JH under Tubs with Nall ball. Finally the IB blow out with Zoe at QB for bamuh. This is a rebuilding year. Not much to expect. We made a bowl game.

Sure, past coaching staffs are largely responsible for the lack of talent on this roster. Agreed.
However, our current head coach is obviously completely out of touch with this team. How serious is that?
Do you think it just goes away? You recruit a few good players and somehow the head coach gets a clue?
Do you watch Thorne on the sidelines? Does he have any friends?

This year will probably be the worst team cohesion-wise. There isnt a whole lot of chemistry, but that day should come. I was wrong about Ole Miss being our bottom, but I think as the seasons go along, even the bad could mean 8 wins not 9. 10 wins, not 11. and so on.
We have plenty of time to figure out how much Freeze will screw the pooch with superior teams. We may have had the so-called superior teams yesterday, but we really didnt. Give me Eku Leota from Illinois over highly ranked Big Kat Bryant. Hell we didnt even know who would be our passrusher this year. Freeze is in year one and there has been zero maturation up to this point from a player, coaching, or team identity standpoint.
We need to figure out where we are at.

I get it. Easy for the fans to toss it off that way and move on. But damn, if I'm an athlete who gets up early, works hard and sacrifices every day, week after week, month after month... is there such a thing as a throw away season?
