I disagree. If we look like a Mark Stoops coached Kentucky team it will get old — and fast

We all need to calm down, let the coaches do what they are paid to do. The class will be what it will be. If our recruiting falls off a cliff every year under Harsin he won't last long. I'm sure he knows that.

I don't think Gus brought in bad character guys, maybe some with bad work ethic. Gus, as we all know, did little to push or develop guys. Combine that with a shite S&C program we saw what happened

Again this thread is full of people that will get a hard on when Harsin loses a game because they really want Gus back

I hated Gus for 6 + years, such a lazy, paranoid, untrusting asshat.

Those same people hang on every word a high school OL says not realizing that the OL situation is so grim because Gus ignored that position group for years.

I'm unreasonably excited about AU using the TE this year.

It will be interesting to see a passing game with more imagination than hoping for a missed tackle on a quick hitch or slinging a bomb outside the numbers over and over.

I dream of passing plays involving attacking multiple levels of the defense and stressing DBs to make a decision which is then read by the QB.

It delivered.

When will people stop bashing Gus and start looking to the present and future.

Because he sucked so bad Kevin Steele actually coached the last game Auburn's played.

( and Bryan Harsin has yet to coach one )

Bashing does not equal realizing we’re in a bad spot because of his offensive and defensive line recruiting the past couple years. Complete trash

Totally agree. I always wanted Gus to put it all together and take it to the next level after that first season. I hoped I was wrong when it looked like it was going the other way.

The current staff's recruiting worries me greatly, but I hope a well coached team this year can help turn that around.

I feel like a lot of the posters here are just putting out early markers so they can say I told you so later or are trying to continue with an I told you so attitude.

We better win some games we haven't in the past, or at least show a better offense and sideline coaching to help ease the pain of the past years.

If not, it could get ugly here quickly, unfortunately.

I am resigned to holding my emotions and seeing how recruiting goes over the next 2-3 years along w/ how Harsin's teams play on Saturday over those same years before I determine his ability to compete overall with the dominant SEC teams.

I think that is the best way to look at this new program. I am an Auburn fan, and while it's great to have instant success(like Gus' first year), I think it's better to watch it unfold and hopefully develop.

1) We are not competing $$ wise with Bama, LSU and UGA, the money has dried up (Some bagmen are mad about Steele)
2) Our facilities (Football only) are well below par, near the bottom. Players are not excited about pictures and a hole in the ground.
3)Recruiting will always be important, but transfers and JUCO play a part.
4) Auburn has not done legal recruiting (Coaches Clinics. Super 7) as well as Alabama. They put on spreads (Steak, Shrimp, etc) at Alabama, Auburn gives them hot dogs.
5) It is JULY, lets see how we stand in December.
6) We have an AD that will not increase the recruiting budget, etc.

Bottom Line: We have reason to be worried, we are down, but I remain hopeful we an turn this around.

I still don't get the hard on that some of you folks have for Malzahn still. Continued mediocrity. I don't think Steele would've done it either, Harsin is just not tested in the SEC yet, once we get some games in our numbers will go up if we do well. Also you are comparing Malzahn's numbers when recruiting was TOTALLY different then.

2) Our facilities (Football only) are well below par, near the bottom. Players are not excited about pictures and a hole in the ground.I do believe that players are excited about what the FPF will be for them(unless they are a junior or senior). I agree our STADIUM is below standards.
3)Recruiting will always be important, but transfers and JUCO play a part.Agree. Will will need those high level transfer over the next 2 years to help Harsin get his recruiting off the ground.
4) Auburn has not done legal recruiting (Coaches Clinics. Super 7) as well as Alabama. They put on spreads (Steak, Shrimp, etc) at Alabama, Auburn gives them hot dogs. There are recruits who really JUST like hot dogs and hamburgers. :)
5) It is JULY, lets see how we stand in December. Good point. Recruiting in particular will need to look good after the early signing period. And hopefully we will have won at least 8 games and beat the snot out of GA too.
6) We have an AD that will not increase the recruiting budget, etc. Solved. Burgess to the rescue (for now).

TBH if we go out and play sound, well-coached football and lose some games because we just don't have the athletes - well, that'd be kind of refreshing. At least then I'd know there was a problem that could be fixed.

It's more frustrating to take top 12ish talent every year and do ineffective things play after play, game after game and see so many athletes with promise fade into obscurity

You mean like DeVonta Smith, who had won the Heisman, who was three quarters into the national championship performance of a lifetime....come tearing down the field to throw a block for his teammate when the game was already out of reach? Yeah that type of coaching Id like to see a little more of.

Im an Auburn alum and fan my entire life, but you have to admire Nick Saban and one of my favorite quotes, when a reporter quiped "I see you practice til you get it right" and he responded, "No you practice til you cant get it wrong".

This part will confuse and shock many of our SEC opponents this year. Gives Auburn an advantage.
