This year is similar to 2017 in football. Ten wins and a few positive moments, but no hardware.

Literally no one has hardware right now.

We still have the chance to hang a few banners in the arena with March accomplishments too

Not unranked you say? Well that's a good thing

Our basketball is great for Auburn standards. Going to the dance two years in a row is fantastic. I watched the team through the end of Ellis all the way through Barbee. This is great compared to that garbage shite we all had to endure. Pearl has done an excellent job, and I just hope we can keep him here.

If we get a 6 seed or better I think sweet 16 would be a great year.

This is my benchmark. If we are consistently winning 20 games, I'm good.

Sweet Sixteen isn't totally unrealistic and would absolutely be a great year. Even if we win one game in the tournament, especially against a half-decent team, it's a big accomplishment IMO.

I'm not trying to say we should be satisfied, but slogging through a tough back half of the season and winning a game or two in the tournament just helps solidify the program as competitive. We probably all got ahead of ourselves last year, but I really just want to look back on the Pearl years (hopefully a long time from now) and be able to say that it changed the trajectory of our basketball program in the long term.

Were an elite 8 team if we can hit our 3s. Out first round if we can’t. If we get on a little roll and the ball bounces in our favor we could absolutely make a run. If the bracket is like what lunardi has right now I could absolutely see us in the elite 8 beating Minnesota, Houston and Michigan matching up with Gonzaga/FSU with a trip to the final 4 on the line.

This team seems to be playing a little better lately. The earlier games don’t really mean anything now. Tourney time is coming. That’s when we have to get hot.

And honestly, other than the SEC title last year, I feel better about this team heading into tourney play than last year.

What are your expectations? My expectations with Pearl coming in was to be a consistent tournament team and be in the top half of the SEC. And some years contend for the SEC.

Last year's team went far over expectations for the regular season, especially for us to be sitting 2 scholarship players the whole season. That made this year's expectations lofty and made most people believe we would be a top 10 team.

Have we underperformed this year? Yeah, we have. The Ole Miss games, South Carolina game, and Kentucky on the road were not great games. This team has shown that they can be a competitor against good teams, they just have to find a way to win.

We we're 13-5 in the SEC last year. We're currently 10-7 with one more game. If Auburn has double digits SEC wins every year, I can be happy with that.

Exactly. Auto entry in the dance and top five in the SEC with 20 wins.

... lest we forget the NCAA woes this team has overcome. In years past that'd of been more than enough to have undone them. It's still amazing to me to be at this point for two years running and the future looking to be as good if not better. Me, likey this trend.

Well, yeah, meaning people have regained their sensibilities after being knee jerky after losses.

I wouldn't be surprised if we went to the Final 4 and I wouldn't be surprised if we lost by 30 in the first round.

I’d be surprised if we lost by 30 in r1. We have been blown out once all year, against a hot Kentucky team at Rupp. I think the worst first round possibility is just having one of those miserable offensive nights and losing like 60-54 to some very mediocre 10 or 11 seed.

In the end it isn't much different than football in the SEC. The difference between 8-5 and 10-2 is marginal but in the eyes of fans its enormous.

Our team is 10-7...last year we finished 13-5. You could argue that might have been 14-4 if AK stayed healthy and some of the loses wouldn't have been blow outs. The USCe game this year is why the league is so tough...they aren't a great team but they are well coached and they execute their plan night after night. You can't show up with your B game and expect a win in this league anymore.
