Yeah I don't see the downside other than we'll probably have to pay him a lot.

Anyone besides Morris would just be another guy Gus assigns tasks to and who would eventually have to go get a real OC job anyway.

From Wiki:

quote:

Morris went to Edgewood High School in Edgewood, Texas where he was the quarterback of the Bulldogs. He attended Texas A&M and earned a bachelor's degree in mathematics with a minor in statistics in 1992. Morris is atypical among NCAA Division I head football coaches in that he did not play football at the collegiate level. He is one of only four such current coaches along with Sonny Dykes at Southern Methodist, David Cutcliffe at Duke, and Mike Leach at Washington State.

He was too smart to play football much like a few other great offensive play callers of our time...

Looking at this objectively, I think we can all agree that unless Gus is absolutely forced to, he is not going to bring in an OC that is completely separate from his scheme and philosophy. It just isn't going to happen.

So, if Morris does happen, that is absolutely best case scenario here. Morris has shown the ability to adapt Gus's offense some at other places.

I agree. Gus wants somebody that will be on board with his offense and a little like yes men. He doesn’t want a Dameyune Craig assuming the rumors about their not seeing eye to eye are true.

Haha. frick you guys and Chad Morris.

While I am not a fan of Gus or Chad Morris, it doesn't matter who we hire as OC. It will still be the Gus show offensively. Maybe he has some kind of transformation this offseason that makes our offensive on-field product look less like shite.

Yep. I don't think Morris will be a yes man per say, but I get what you're saying. Morris will be able to challenge Gus, but they will be approaching everything form basically the same starting point and same philosophy.

I think Morris is absolutely beat case scenario as long as Gus is head coach. I’m actually super excited about this.

I too think it’s a good fit. Gus is going to run his offense, might as well get a guy who has good results running things in that framework. He is a good recruiter from most accounts as well, which we need.

Well if we hire Morris as QB/OC and Matt Luke as OL/Asst OC we may actually have an O staff equal to our D staff. Get it done Gus

Assuming Grimes is ready to retire, why not go after Luke.

When Morris was at Clemson, I couldn't help but think how much better the Gus offense looked when they ran it.
